The '''Foolix''' ({{j|ミツモチ|Mitsumochi|Nectar Life}}) is a [[boss]] enemy in {{p4}}. A relative of the [[Goolix]], it is found in the 4th and final sublevel of the [[Secluded Courtyard]]. It resembles a yellowish amoeba with an orange star-shaped nucleus, which possesses a flagellum-like tail.

== Behavior ==

Initially, the Foolix disguises itself as a blob of [[nectar]], waiting for the player or Pikmin to draw near. It will attack when either of them get close. 

Unlike the Goolix, its primary attack is to absorb Pikmin (and possibly the player) into its body; It also is far more aggressive in its movements and will try to stretch itself in order to engulf them more effectively. After some time, any captured Pikmin will be digested and die. It will try to face the player at all times, as the "tail" of its nucleus is its weakness. When the tail is pulled with the strength of 15 Pikmin, it will burst into pieces and be vulnerable to attack. Eventually, it will wave its flagellum in the air and recollect its cytoplasm.

The Foolix can be fought in one of two ways: the first is to get behind it and have at least 15 Pikmin pull on its "tail" when it extends through its cytoplasm, which will cause it to burst out of its membrane and leave it vulnerable  until it can reform its cytoplasm. A bomb rock will also cause the Foolix to burst if it is engulfed.

Alternatively, [[Ice Pikmin]] can be used to freeze and shatter the Foolix for the same effect if it engulfs them, although this must be done quickly to avoid Pikmin losses since any Pikmin it has engulfed will be trapped inside it.

A single-cycle defeat without spicy spray is also possible with the assitance of [[Rock Pikmin]] in combination with Ice Pikmin (obtainable from the [[Kingdom of Beasts]]). First, get the nucleus out of the cytoplasm either through pulling the tail or freezing it with Ice Pikmin, pulling the tail is faster but it scatters the Pikmin used for it. Simply rush the boss repeatedly with Rock Pikmin, making sure the Ice Pikmin stay latched onto the nucleus. Since Rock Pikmin ignore the defense boost granted to frozen enemies when rushed, 30 Rock Pikmin take around 3 rushes to defeat the boss, taking a third of the health bar each time.

==Trivia==
*Freezing Foolix while a [[bomb rock]] is engulfed will deactivate it. When the ice is broken, the bomb rocks will be dropped next to the nucleus. Upon reforming, the bomb rock will reactivate, bursting the cytroplasm.
