Now, Pikipedia's system has quite a bit of history behind it and is simple to understand, but I wonder if it would be worth slightly changing it to be like other wiki systems. This could be done by moving the "Ready nominations" from the nominations page into its own page of feature-worthy articles, and this page would also store previously featured articles that are still high-quality. (If articles dropped in quality, they could be removed from that list.) That way, we could have a catalog of articles featured on the 2 month cycle (the featured article history), and a list of the highest-quality articles on the wiki (the featured article list). Would it be worth making a change like this? — Soprano(talk) 17:06, December 21, 2021 (EST)

:Both methods have pros and cons. With a random showcase, the reader could always miss out on some articles because of the randomness. With Pikipedia's approach, they need to wait months before seeing something new. With the other method, the same list could be in circulation for years until someone adds something new, whereas with Pikipedia, because the updates are so slow, there's usually enough time to get something fresh every two months. Pikipedia's way is much less stressful on workload since it only happens every once in a while, but it's also a big, tiring deal having to find the best of the best. Flagging some minor or more incomplete articles as features helps a lot with article diversity and effort, but isn't the idea of a featured article to showcase the shining stars of the wiki?
:At the end of the day, I think our approach is fine, at least for now while we still have a healthy list of articles to use. We used to use a random selection of featured articles (or was that only for the featured images? Can't remember) but because nothing happened with the franchise for years, no new articles ever needed to be added. At least the randomness kept the front page fresh throughout that time. Maybe we'll have to go back to that one day. — {EspyoT} 11:46, December 24, 2021 (EST)
