Main article: Pearly Clamclamp.

The Pearly Clamclamp is an enemy in Pikmin and Pikmin 4. This large bivalve has a pinkish shell, and inside, a small pearl or item surrounded by a clear blue membrane. Their inner weak point can be attacked by Pikmin.

Naming[edit]

The family name is a combination of "snare", meaning to lure to bait for capture, and shell. This perfectly describes the Pearly Clamclamp's behavior.

The genus ostrum seem to be based on the latin word for oyster, ostreum. Unofficially, the genus lapis was used for the family in the Pikmin Player's Guide, which is Latin for "stone".
