The Velvety Dreamdrop (エンガワノミ?, lit.: "Fruit of Engawa") is a fruit in Pikmin 3 and a treasure in Pikmin 4. It is a loquat. It takes 5 Pikmin to carry this fruit, and it produces a single bottle of juice (half a bottle in Ultra-Spicy mode) in Pikmin 3. It has no appearance in Mission Mode, but has many appearances in Bingo Battle, and also appears once in the Side Stories. In Pikmin 4, it can be found in the Blossoming Arcadia, and later in the Engulfed Castle.

Locations of the Velvety Dreamdrop in the Tropical Wilds. The one on the left is in the cave; the one on the right is in the Armored Cannon Larva.

Armored Cannon Larva

One of the two Velvety Dreamdrops in the Tropical Wilds is located inside of an Armored Cannon Larva, and requires at least 2 leaders to collect, but using all 3 is advised. There is a tunnel in the room where the Whiptongue Bulborb and the Pocked Airhead is, right next to the landing site. Upon clearing the tunnel, there will be a path with boulders coming down from it. Throw a leader or two onto the higher ledge along with some Rock Pikmin. From there, the Armored Cannon Larva will be in sight. Kill the creature, and it will drop a Velvety Dreamdrop. It is recommended to complete the red bridge nearby for the Pikmin to carry this fruit back, though bombing the nearby wall and completing the brown bridge will also work.

Cave

The other Velvety Dreamdrop in the Tropical Wilds is inside a cave found right beside the red bridge. Inside the cave are 2 Flighty Joustmites and many Flukeweeds. Walk around the outer edge of the area so the Flighty Joustmites are not awakened, and use the radar to find which Flukeweed has the Velvety Dreamdrop underneath it. Winged Pikmin are necessary to uproot the Flukeweed and collect the fruit. Beware that some of the Flukeweeds will reveal enemies, so be sure to lift the correct one.

Garden of Hope

Location of the Velvety Dreamdrop in the Garden of Hope.

The Velvety Dreamdrop in the Garden of Hope is in the second half of the area, which can be only accessed after a certain event in the story. Beyond a bamboo gate in the large lake in this part of the area, there is a body of water with a clipboard on the other side. Lifting this clipboard with 8 Winged Pikmin will reveal a Velvety Dreamdrop, which can be carried back to the ship with the same Winged Pikmin. However, it is recommended to not call the Winged Pikmin back when they're done lifting the clipboard, as they can get stuck. Instead, let them come to you naturally. Then, have them retrieve the fruit, but beware as the Puckering Blinnows can jump out of the water and grab the Pikmin for a snack. It is recommended to defeat the Blinnows with Blue Pikmin before retrieving the fruit.

Distant Tundra

Location of the Velvety Dreamdrop in the Distant Tundra.

The Velvety Dreamdrop in the Distant Tundra is in the northwest section of the area where some of Brittany's fragments are found. It is found hanging from a branch near a Whiptongue Bulborb and an Arctic Cannon Larva. Throw 5 Pikmin onto it from the upper plateau and it will be weighed down and fall to the lower level. Return to the lower level and carry the fruit to the ship.

Collecting the treasure

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Blossoming Arcadia

There is a Velvety Dreamdrop half-buried near the northwest section of the overworld. To collect this treasure, you must throw 5 Pikmin at it.

Engulfed Castle

It is inside of a small pipe structure in the northeastern room of sublevel 4 of the Engulfed Castle. It is guarded by a Moldy Dwarf Bulborb, which should be defeated before attempting to collect it. To collect this treasure, you must throw 5 Pikmin at it.

Notes

Brittany's notes

US version icon.png US version
The taste of this one takes me back to Auntie Bea's famous fruit pastries. The pit's pretty big, so there's not a whole lot of juice in there. But maybe someday this pit will grow into a tree in Auntie Bea's backyard, and she can taste it for herself...
European version icon.png European version
The taste reminds me of the sweets Auntie Bea gave me as a child. The big, greedy stone doesn't leave much room for juice, but maybe someday it will grow into a tree in Auntie Bea's back garden and I can repay her kindness. She was so sweet to me.

Schnauz's notes

This fruit is a treat for the senses. Not only is its bright, tear-shaped form pretty to look at, its soft surface is also slightly velvety to the touch. Yes, two senses delighted by one fruit! Or, as they say, "Two birds, one stone!" Oh dear! Speaking of stones...do NOT eat the seeds. They're quite poisonous!

Olimar's notes

When my first child was born, my wife and I would sit outside in the warm spring weather and take turns rocking him in our arms. Those days were filled with endless joy. The sunlight bouncing off his downy hair looked just like this.

Louie's notes

Whenever I dig into one of these and it's full of big seeds, it feels like nature's pulling another classic bait and switch.
