The Zirconium Rotor (ジルコニウムローター?, lit.: "Zirconium Rotor") is a ship part found in Pikmin. The part is made of rust-proof Zirconium and was in good condition when Olimar found it. The Optical Illustration/Abstract Masterpiece in Pikmin 2 is located in the same place where the Zirconium Rotor is found. Once retrieved, this ship part does not change the S.S. Dolphin's appearance.

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

It is located near the Gluon Drive. Get 6 Yellow Pikmin and get some bomb-rocks. Destroy the wall and kill the two Yellow Wollywogs near the white gate and have about 30 Blue Pikmin knock it down. Once finished, have them carry the part back. Note that you don't necessarily have to kill the Yellow Wollywogs, but can guide them out of the way.

If the reinforced wall is not broken down, the Pikmin may also carry it behind the complex of tree stumps and enter the landing site through the backside. However, the other way is quicker.

By throwing Pikmin from the Gluon Drive's room over to the Zirconium Rotor's room, and by abusing the way Pikmin move in a circle when they can't find a path to carry something, the ship part can be picked up and released with the right timing to inch it over to its room's southern wall. Once it's near the wall, the day can be finished, and on the next day, the ship part will appear out in the open.[1]

Notes

Olimar's monologs

It's my Zirconium Rotor!

This is made from rust-proof zirconium, which is particularly suited to making spaceship parts. I had to pay a lot extra to have this installed, and I suspect the mechanic overcharged me.

Made of rust-proof zirconium, it is as shiny as new, despite being left out in this planet's harsh elements.

Trivia

  • In real life, zirconium is a gray-white transition metal, which resembles titanium. It is also highly resistant to corrosion, just like it was as described in-game.
