The '''Stellar Extrusion''' ({{j|ダンメンホシニタリ|Dammen Hoshi Nitari|Stellar Cross Section}}) is a [[fruit]] in {{p3}} and a [[treasure]] in {{p4}}. It is a {{w|Carambola|starfruit}}. In ''Pikmin 3'', the fruit comes in 2 halves and each half gives one cup of juice, so the fruit gives 2 cups in total (this is limited to a half and one respectively in [[difficulty|Ultra-Spicy mode]]). There are 3 Stellar Extrusions in [[Story Mode]], and they are in the [[Tropical Wilds]], [[Garden of Hope]], and [[Distant Tundra]]. In ''Pikmin 4'', the fruit only appears as a half each time, and can be found in the [[Serene Shores]] and [[Frozen Inferno]].

The Stellar Extrusion in the [[Tropical Wilds]] is found hanging from a high branch above the [[seesaw block]]s. To get to it, have one leader stay on the seesaw block by the beach, then throw 10 [[Yellow Pikmin]] up onto the [[Bouncy Mushroom]] on the other block. Switch to the leader that got raised and proceed to go to the Yellow Pikmin. Carefully guide them up the nearby root until they reach the top of the tree stump. From there, [[lock on]] to the fruit and throw the 10 Yellow Pikmin on it. It should fall down and break in half upon impact. It is best to bring more than 10 Pikmin along, in the event that a few don't grab onto the fruit.

By manipulating the [[camera]] angle and using [[Winged Pikmin]], it is possible to avoid all this (in the original ''Pikmin 3'' only). Simply find a place where the Stellar Extrusion is in the view of the camera. Without turning around, move the pointer to the fruit, [[lock-on|scan]] it and '''quickly''' order the Winged Pikmin to charge. It must be done quickly, as the game will cancel the scan shortly after it begins, given that the distance from the fruit is too large for the scan to normally work.

The Stellar Extrusion in the [[Garden of Hope]] is dropped by a [[Bug-Eyed Crawmad]]. This Bug-Eyed Crawmad is found in a cave past the area with the [[Fiery Blowhog]]s and an [[electric gate]]. Another entrance is past a different electric gate and some [[Skutterchuck]]s. Simply defeat the creature to be able to carry the fruit.

The Stellar Extrusion in the [[Distant Tundra]] is dropped by a [[Shaggy Long Legs]]. This boss can be accessed once [[Alph]] and [[Brittany]] reunite, as the entrance to its arena is past a ledge in the cave where the [[Yellow Onion]] was discovered. Another entrance to its arena is found past the small pond with [[Skeeterskate]]s, [[Water Dumple]]s and a [[bamboo gate]]. (Using a [[Sequence break#Early Shaggy Long Legs|glitch]], it can be accessed even earlier, and without any time limit.) If [[Blue Pikmin]] have not yet been found, it is recommended to time the battle so that the boss is defeated above dry land as the fruit pieces may sometimes land in the water at an angle such that [[Winged Pikmin]] cannot retrieve them.

=== Serene Shores ===
There is a Stellar Extrusion on top of a tall sand mound on the way to the top of the castle, located on the southern edge of the area. By standing on the center of the castle's top, it's located directly north. You can either throw 5 [[Yellow Pikmin]] at it, or knock it down with a [[rush]] from [[Oatchi]] and throw 5 Pikmin at it. Upon removing it from the sand mound, an [[Armored Cannon Larva]] will spawn nearby and attempt to attack you, which should be defeated quickly.

=== Frozen Inferno ===
It is inside of the [[Icy Blowhog]] in the northeastern corner of sublevel 2 of the [[Frozen Inferno]]. To collect this treasure, you must first defeat the Icy Blowhog, then throw 5 Pikmin at it. There is an [[ice geyser]] blocking the exit which should be destroyed before attempting to transport it.
