Red Bulborbs in their bionomial nomenclature are the main enemy in Pikmin and Pikmin 2. They are nocturnal creatures, thus they sleep for most of the day.
Most have a very slow reaction time when attacked. If attacked by a large enough force, they can be overcome before they can counterattack. It is also true that throwing numerous Purple Pikmin will work exceedingly well in defeating it without fail. Their mouth is large enough to fit several pikmin in it, so attack from the behind for best results. Luckily, Red bulborbs are very apathetic.
