The WiiU is to be Nintendo's sixth home console, said to be released in 2012. and the succsessor to the Wii. The primary feature of the WiiU is the touch screen built into its controller. A game can be played using the controller's screen, allowing for a person's television to be used for something else while gaming. The screen can also be used to provide different veiws into the game's world and play using the touch feature. The WiiU will be backwards compatible with the Wii, meaning Wii games such as the New Play Control! versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 can be played on the WiiU. Gamecube games and accesories will not be compatible, however. Pikmin 3 is currently in development for the WiiU.
