Does anybody know how to make the chart that you can see in Wikipedia's article for Pikmin? Y'know, the thing that shows the rating, release date, genre, etc? That might make the article look more potent. --The Pikmin God 21:04, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Shouldnt we like take the stub thing off i mean the whole article seems pretty decent. I think it's because they're such a large part of the game, but yeah, that shouldn't be there. It should be a much shorter section with main|Pikmin family. GP

"Pikmin" vs. "Pikmin 1"

I thought we had reached a consensus before, but things seem to have changed, so I'm opening a new discussion. I'd like to change most instances of "Pikmin" (referring to the game) to "Pikmin 1." While it is true that Pikmin 1 is not the actual name of the game, it is easily and instantly recognizable as referring to it, whereas Pikmin is not only the name of the game but also that of the Pikmin creatures themselves, and that usage appears at least once in every article. So to avoid confusion, I'd like to have articles use "Pikmin 1" when referring to the game, as has already been done in the enemy infoboxes. By titles like category:Pikmin 1 enemies, I meant titles that aren't this page. This is because this is the only page that has only the game's title in its name: any other page would look silly using "(game)" (think category:Pikmin (game) enemies). GP

Texture-snapshot generation...

While exploring Pikmin's textures, I noticed that the game creates a screenshot of every frame and treats as a texture. These screenshots have a semi-low resolution, and the HUD and several sprites (like spirits) are missing. I don't know if this is used for the blur effects, but I just thought I'd share this info. {Espyo^T} 20:43, 30 October 2010 (EDT)

The Pikmin Planet's Real Name

{TheMagicPikmin}: I just want to clear this up with everybody. The Pikmin Planet is actually Earth. If you dont beleive me look at the facts. 1.Human items laying around 2.From the distance the planet looks like earth. 3.In "Pikmin" while Olimar is in space you can see constellations that are viewed from the Earth.

No, actually, we are not for certain if the Distant Planet is Earth or not, even though there is much debate over this topic. Release day

Looks like the exact US release day isn't clear. Some places claim the 2nd of December, others claim the 3rd.

• Sources claiming the second:
  • Wikipedia past-Bovineboy2008
• Sources claiming the third:
  • IGN (archive)
  • MobyGames
  • Wikipedia pre-Bovineboy2008
• Notes:
  • Pikipedia has always used the second. I bet the page's info was based off of the Wikipedia article at the time.
  • That Bovineboy2008 character on Wikipedia could have made a typo in the US date, but they also corrected the European date from the 15th to the 14th. The official European website says it's the 14th, so that user's edit might not be a mistake after all.
  • Some days after the release date conversation on Pikcord on December 2022, an anon edited Wikipedia to say the third.
  • Planet GameCube claims the 5th of November.

Thing is, it's more nuanced than that. The user who edited Wikipedia to say the 2nd seems to know what they're doing, if the European release date is anything to go by. Also I didn't research very heavily, but there might be more sources that claim the 2nd. — {Espyo^T} 17:12, January 5, 2023 (EST)

I discovered the correct release date is actually December 3rd and it comes from an official source. An archive of "Pikmin.com" from October 2001 contains an image (img_area_5.jpg) that originally would have advertised the release date, but unfortunately...the image is broken. Thankfully, the image itself contains alt text that states the release date: "coming december 3, 2001". While not 100% correct all the time, MobyGames and IGN's claims of December 3rd were correct in this instance! Mystery solved! Bovineboy2008 caused a lot of misinformation with that edit lol. I still can't safely think that that's the real release date. After all, that alt text doesn't even look very definitive (December with a lowercase D?). It could also be their initial projected release date, but then there was a change of plans and the game released on the 2nd. All of that said, at the end of the day, this is absolutely the most official source we have. I also guess it would make little sense for them to plan the 3rd and then launch it one day earlier (one day later due to setbacks sure, but one day sooner is a bit nonsense), and launching a game on a Sunday is a bit of a bad move too. I guess the 3rd is the real release date after all, and now Pikipedia, with the best sources available to it, is documenting it factually. Great job, King! — {Espyo^T} 07:06, May 23, 2023 (EDT)

Thanks! And yea, I agree that it's not exactly the best source for the release date, so I went and found another official source that pretty much cements the December 3rd release date. Nintendo.com archive from February 2002. Pikmin's release date is written crystal clear, "03-Dec-2001"! I'll add it as a reference too. Canadian French and American Spanish?

So in the History section, the article says that the game has 3 regional versions, and that the American version is available in Canadian French and American Spanish, along with English. But i'm pretty sure the American version is only available in English. Maybe someone had the Wii version, and since that version is available in Canadian French and American Spanish, they thought that the Gamecube version had the same languages. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kebbo • (talk) • (contribs)
