Analysis of data in Super Smash Bros. Brawl has yielded the information that the Distant Planet stage is also referred to by the name ''Earth''.  This is deemed comparable to a debug name, only used in programming the game, but it makes clear that Nintendo designers see the planet as Earth.

If u pay attention closely to Olimars notes in the treasure hoard somtimes information may be reveiled on what he thinks of them. one of the treasures (human denters) olimar starts to wonder if an enemy that was of humongous size would use the treasure.
here are some stradagies to get around some enemies according to wich way you decide to kill them changes there difficulty. a good stradagey for killing spotty bulbears ABOVE GROUND is to use the ultra bitter spray, it will not only stop the spotty bulbear from eating your pikmin,it will stop the dwarf spotty bulbears from eating a small amonut of pikmin while attacking the larger spotty bulbear. for UNDERGROUND spotty bulbears there are some very helpful tricks, this one can be used for most bugs, if there is an enemy that shoots porjectiles such as bombs, electrecity, etc. get the timing right and leave your pikmin and get the porjectiles to land near the enemy. another one that applys for enemies that fall from nowhere there wll usually be corners and you can use those to trap enemies this may give you time to calm down and think of a plan. for killing the titan dweevil there is a overly said pattern to destroy it >:D water frist because... cmon it'll go across the whole screen! next up is electrecity now so far you should have only been using yellow pikmin beacause electrecity is instant pikmin death so take it out next. these next ones can be up to you but my personal choice is fire just make sure to use reds or if your a pro use'em all also when he uses his poison run up one of the ramps because it'll travel across the whole ring. last and certainly the least poison now my first time fighting this boss i laghed for a long time because he WON'T give that poison a rest yet it's easier than the fire now i dont care if your a pro or not this'll take FOREVER if u don't use all the pikmin you have! now for attacking the poison bomb i sudgest to lure him closer to the outer ring than for you to stand on the safe area when he breaks out the old poison get the timing right  AGAIN and throw your pikmin on the bomb now the titan dweevil is defensless and a piece of cake. now i have only given 2 stardagies because 1.i only need stradagies for these 2 annoying bugs and 2. because LOOK HOW LONG THIS IS!!!

The planet that Olimar lands on, in both Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, is the natural habitat of Pikmin as well as many other lifeforms, many of them predators of the Pikmin. The planet is known as the planet of the Pikmin or the Pikmin planet in both games. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl it is known as Distant Planet.

In the first Pikmin game Olimar crash lands on this uncharted planet during his vacation after his ship is struck by a meteoroid; Olimar must escape the planet before his life support system fails because the atmosphere is composed largely of oxygen which is toxic to Olimar's people.

In Pikmin 2 Olimar returns to the planet with his new companion, Louie, in search of treasure, in order to rescue the company he works for, Hocotate Freight, from bankruptcy.

The planet appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a fighting stage under the name Distant Planet. It features a forested section of the planet, similar to the Awakening Wood.

The planet as Earth

Although ambiguous, the Pikmin planet is at least very Earth-like with similar geography. It is unknown if there is still a human presence on the planet at the time of the Pikmin story; it may take place some time after a human exodus from the planet, or even the extinction of humans. Since Pikmin 2's areas are comparable to those in its prequel, and there are new human objects, the only possible explanations are that man exists, or the items were blown into the areas from other places while Olimar was away.

Whether or not the Pikmin planet actually is our Earth or an alternate version is yet to be revealed in the games or by Shigeru Miyamoto, the game's creator; either way, it is doubtful that the similarities are coincidental. Tin cans as well as many other man-made objects and structures from modern times can be found lying around in the first game (for example, parts of Perplexing Pool and The Distant Spring appear to be the remains of a bathroom), and all the 'treasures' found in the second game are man-made or objects natural to Earth. These even include many items that are registered trademarks of existing companies.

During the second game, this statement is supported: when Olimar lands on or leaves the planet his ship is shown to be heading towards or coming from Africa. Most of the planet's geography has been shown to match Earth's, the Ship even stating at the time of the discovery of the Spherical Atlas that it exhibits the planet's geography as seen from space: both this and the Geographic Projection are two halves to a globe that clearly shows Earth and its countries.

Analysis of data in Super Smash Bros. Brawl has yielded the information that the Distant Planet stage is also referred to by the name Earth. This is deemed comparable to a debug name, only used in programming the game, but it makes clear that Nintendo designers see the planet as Earth.
