It is possible to throw [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] further by taking a running start while holding a Pikmin by pressing down "A", then releasing the button while still running in the wanted direction. This works with any Pikmin type, and in [[Pikmin series|both games]].

In the [[New Play Control! Pikmin|''New Play Control!'' version]] of the game, this is not necessary: the pointer can be moved anywhere on the screen, and a running throw has the same range as a normal fully extended throw.
