Pikmin 1 is a port of the original Pikmin to the Nintendo Switch. It was revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation on June 21st, 2023, alongside a port of Pikmin 2. Both were released on the eShop immediately after the presentation concluded. This port is based on New Play Control! Pikmin.

A bundle of this game and the Pikmin 2 Switch port was also released as Pikmin 1+2. This bundle received a physical release in North America, Europe, and Japan on September 22nd, 2023.

  • The copyright on the title screen has been changed to "© Nintendo".

Audio

  • A few sounds play differently, like the Onion ejecting seeds.
  • Some music instruments are slightly off-key.
  • Since the attract mode cutscenes have been removed, Japanese players can also no longer hear Ai no Uta.

Other

  • The logo on the game's box art has been updated to resemble the modern Pikmin series logo, along with it now being known as Pikmin 1.
  • The enemy reel received several changes:
    • All of the gameplay has been re-recorded, now being more accurate to the game's actual gameplay.
    • A different font is used, and all of the text is center-aligned.
    • In the European version, The wollyhop is known as such on the enemy reel.
    • The text fades in, rather than getting "written" in like the original.
    • A different font is used, and all of the text is center-aligned.
    • The Swooping Snitchbug is placed correctly in the reel's alphabetical order.
    • In the US version, the Wogpole, Wollywog, and Yellow Wollywog are renamed to Wolpole, Wollyhop, and Yellow Wollyhop respectively.
    • Instead of a dark filter closing in around a creature to highlight it, a smear effect is instantly placed.
  • Despite the game being based off of the New Play Control! version, the GameCube cursor is used.
  • When Olimar takes damage, the screen shakes and turns red briefly.

  • Game size: 1.09 GB.
  • Supported play modes: TV (1 player), tabletop (1 player), and handheld (1 player).
  • Supported controllers: two Joy-Cons, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
  • Supports cloud save data.
