Elements from the [[Pikmin series|''Pikmin'' series]] have appeared in several other [[Nintendo]] games. The [[Super Smash Bros. series|''Super Smash Bros''. series]] in particular is well-known for having references and content of multitudes of Nintendo series and, more recently, those of other companies. Regardless, ''Pikmin'' content has made its way into other games and forms of media, be it with content directly taken from the franchise, or references.

In ''[[nookipedia:Animal Crossing: New Leaf|Animal Crossing: New Leaf]]'', the S.S. Dolphin, Pikmin and Red Pikmin Hat items reappear, and two new items are added: the Blue Pikmin hat and the Yellow Pikmin hat. All of these items are received through [[nookipedia:Fortune cookie|fortune cookies]].

In addition, [[nookipedia:Leif|Leif]]'s logo, visible on his hat and cart, is the same logo used to represent ''Pikmin'' in the {{ssbs}}.

In 2016, around the release of the ''[[nookipedia:Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo|Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo]]'' free update, Nintendo posted multiple patterns themed around ''[[Pikmin 3]]'' to various social media pages. Patterns exist for all 5 of the main types of Pikmin, as well as a pattern for the face-cutout standee of the original trio of Pikmin. Two of the costumes are from the ''Pikmin'' series: [[Captain Olimar]] and a trio consisting of the three main [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]]. Captain Olimar's costume is available by scanning an Olimar [[amiibo]], or by getting it randomly, while the Pikmin costume is purely random. By touching the "K" in the title screen's "MAKER", an effect imitating an old movie is applied, and pressing the letter again will play a sci-fi "click" sound and remove the effect. In addition, in the Toy Room game ''Wario's amiibo Sketch'', Wario can make crude drawings of [[amiibo]] characters. The Captain Olimar amiibo and the Pikmin amiibo are compatible for this mode. Olimar's drawing shows him posing like in the amiibo, as well as the Red Pikmin and Blue Pikmin with him. The Pikmin amiibo results in a drawing without the terrain pieces, and just the Pikmin all at the same level, although the Rock Pikmin is missing.

In the microgame, the player has to knock a [[pellet]] off a [[Pellet Posy]] in the [[Valley of Repose]] using the moves available to the character being played as. Various types of Pikmin appear on the ground beneath the Pellet Posy, and [[Bulborb|Red Bulborb]]s can sometimes be seen sleeping in the background. The music in this microgame is based on the [[Music in Pikmin 2#Valley of Repose|Valley of Repose's theme]].

The spot the action takes place in does not exist in ''Pikmin 2'', but it is very similar to the spot the [[Burrowing Snagret]] can be found, overlooking the game's first Red Bulborb.

The level 1 version takes place in the [[Valley of Repose]] with a Red Pikmin sprout, the level 2 version takes place in the [[Awakening Wood]] with a Yellow and Blue Pikmin sprout, and the level 3 version takes place in the [[Wistful Wild]] with a Purple and White Pikmin sprout. Every level uses a snippet of the music from its respective area. Unlike the original game, Purple Pikmin need to be tugged twice in order to be plucked. In the Wii to Wii U System Transfer, first they carry the content across the Wii and into an odd ship, representing the SD card used for the transfer. Sometimes, a Pikmin will not make it onto the ship, so the ship has to reopen. Then it travels from the metaphorical Wii planet to the metaphorical Wii U planet, that looks like the sun. They then continue to carry their data to the system memory of the Wii U, completing the transfer. The only Pikmin types to be seen are [[Red Pikmin]], [[Blue Pikmin]], [[Yellow Pikmin]], [[White Pikmin]], and [[Purple Pikmin]], and there are no [[leader]]s to be seen.

The game features harvestable plantlike creatures called Mandrakes, who die when exposed to sunlight. During the night, they can be plucked and follow behind the player, if enough are plucked they form a squad similar in appearance to those that Pikmin form, although they have no use. At the end of one of the randomly-generated dungeons of the Hamlet DLC portion of the game, a boss called the Queen Womant can be found.
