I've never gotten the ice equipment, but i've gotten the electric stuff around the begining. seems like oatchi's skills, there may be multiple triggers/flags for things to be unlocked. seems like everybody's playthrough is diffrent with these things. I'm trying to edit the flare guard for oatchi and give it the translations, but it just says "Something went wrong. Please try again at a later date." and gives me the error codes "Spaghetti" and "Olimar". What should I do?

==Splitting by game==
I think this page is long enough where organizing gear alphabetically makes it harder to find gear per game. Since most gear is exclusive to one game, it would be more benefitial to split them as "Gear debuting in _" and alphabetically within each section. :I think keeping it as-is would be better, given how you'd only need to know the name of something to be able to find it and not also what game it first appears in. ==Splitting the article==
Currently, this article documents the upgrade systems of all ''Pikmin'' games in the same article. I think doing this results in suboptimal documentation for each system, and that it would be better if this article was split, with each game's upgrade system being documented separately in a way that best suits that system. However, splitting the article would be difficult to do, due to how some upgrades appear in multiple games.

For ''Pikmin 2'', I think the best way to document upgrades would be to document them all on an "Exploration Kit" article, as the Exploration Kit is the set of all the upgrades in the game. This is what the wiki did before 2015 (though back then these upgrades were additionally documented on the articles about the treasures that are collected to obtain them; I think documenting them in a single location is a better idea). For ''Pikmin 3'', there's no set of all the upgrades and they function as standalone collectible items, so I think they should be documented in separate articles. These articles could be similar to fruit articles, with collection guides. For ''Pikmin 4'', one option for documenting gear could be to document all gear items on the same article, but another option could be to take inspiration from the [[:it:Fischietto potente|Italian wiki]] and document gear items on separate articles, with similar gear items (such as the Headlamp and Headlamp+) documented on the same article (most of the gear articles on the Italian wiki haven't been created yet, but I'm assuming that this is the intention from the navbox). For ''Pikmin'' and ''Hey! Pikmin'', which have simpler upgrade systems, I think that they should be documented on this article, which would remain as a hub article for documenting general details of upgrade systems in each game; I think the article should be renamed back to "Upgrade", as this is a more broad term, with the term "Gear" only being used for ''Pikmin 4''.

The difficulty with splitting this article is that some upgrades appear in multiple games. For example, if this article was split, there would be 3 places documenting an upgrade called the Scorch Guard, so how would the disambiguations between these places work? There are also some upgrades which function similarly to upgrades in other games but have different names, and there should also be disambiguations between these. There's also the Parts Detector in ''Pikmin 4'', which functions identically to the Treasure Gauge but has a different name. :I agree with the idea of splitting this article up, as right now it is way too scrambled. My first thought was to have each articled named something like ''Pikmin 2 gear'', ''Pikmin 3 gear'' etc. However, with multiple gears being present in multiple games (like the Metal Suit Z), this would be awkward. This could be fixed with the use of [[:Category:Disambiguation pages|disambiguation pages]] but this may not be ideal.

:I agree something definitly needs to be done with the articleas it's overly long and as more games come out it's just going to get longer. One thing about it that bugs me that definitly needs to be addressed is the list saying what is in what game, problem with that is that some upgrades while not in some games where unlocked by default in others ie. swarm, charge, etc. only thing I can think of is what others have said make an article per game, perhaps keep upgrades that have only appeared in that game on the page and for ones that have been in multiple just having a link to one singular page of that particular upgrade/mechanic. like for example a Pikmin 2 one would go into detail on the Solar System (though now i'm pondering whether that could include the headlamp, so maybe just go into detail on the globe pieces?) and then when it gets to list Scorch Guard, just provide a link to a Scorch Guard page going into detail on each game it's been in. only issue I see other then multiple new articles needing to be made would be what to call each page due to different names for the same ability.[[User:Pikmin Theories|Pikmin Theories]] ([[User talk:Pikmin Theories|talk]]) 02:27, November 24, 2025 (EST)
