I've never gotten the ice equipment, but i've gotten the electric stuff around the begining. seems like oatchi's skills, there may be multiple triggers/flags for things to be unlocked. seems like everybody's playthrough is diffrent with these things. P.S. i've gotten all the treasures in the demo and i swear the only armor that ever showed is fire and electric Pikmin Theories (talk) 02:13, July 6, 2023 (EDT)

:I agree with the idea of splitting this article up, as right now it is way too scrambled. My first thought was to have each articled named something like Pikmin 2 gear, Pikmin 3 gear etc. However, with multiple gears being present in multiple games (like the Metal Suit Z), this would be awkward. This could be fixed with the use of disambiguation pages but this may not be ideal.

:I do think that this idea is better than each piece of gear having its own article, as looking at the Power Whistle article on the Italian wiki, it is very short. Too short to warrant an article in my opinion. This also goes for other pieces of gear, not just ones from Pikmin 4. – Chazmatron, signing off! (TALK) 20:19, 23 November, 2025 (GMT)

::Articles about each gear item in Pikmin 4 would be quite short. Considering that Pikmin 2 Exploration Kit items would be documented in a single article, it would make sense for Pikmin 4 gear items to be documented similarly. However, there's more to say about Pikmin 3 upgrades, as they're collectible items found in specific locations, so I think they should have their own articles, which would have a similar structure to fruit articles. — Soprano(talk) 05:45, November 27, 2025 (EST)

:I agree something definitly needs to be done with the articleas it's overly long and as more games come out it's just going to get longer. One thing about it that bugs me that definitly needs to be addressed is the list saying what is in what game, problem with that is that some upgrades while not in some games where unlocked by default in others ie. swarm, charge, etc. only thing I can think of is what others have said make an article per game, perhaps keep upgrades that have only appeared in that game on the page and for ones that have been in multiple just having a link to one singular page of that particular upgrade/mechanic. like for example a Pikmin 2 one would go into detail on the Solar System (though now i'm pondering whether that could include the headlamp, so maybe just go into detail on the globe pieces?) and then when it gets to list Scorch Guard, just provide a link to a Scorch Guard page going into detail on each game it's been in. only issue I see other then multiple new articles needing to be made would be what to call each page due to different names for the same ability.Pikmin Theories (talk) 02:27, November 24, 2025 (EST)

::That would work, but the issue of what to name the articles is a difficult one. For example, is the Power Whistle the same thing as the Mega Tweeter but renamed, or is it a separate item with the same function? — Soprano(talk) 05:45, November 27, 2025 (EST)

:If this article was split in the way I've proposed, and if all Pikmin 4 gear items were documented on the same article instead of on separate articles, there would need to be articles about the following topics (the text in brackets is clarifying what games the article would cover):

: The following things would need to be decided to split the article this way:
:* How should disambiguations for the Scorch Guard and Anti-Electrifier work? (Would the article about the Pikmin 3 upgrade have "(Pikmin 3)" in the title? Would there be a separate disambiguation page, or would there be a disambiguation note at the top of the article about the Pikmin 3 upgrade?)
:* How should the disambiguation for the Metal Suit Z work? (This could work differently to the Scorch Guard and Anti-Electrifier as this upgrade isn't in Pikmin 4.)
:* How should disambiguations for the Rush Boots and Treasure Gauge work? (I think disambiguation pages would make the most sense here, as the alternative is having the name of the upgrade redirect to one section with that section having a disambiguation note linking to the other section, and this would be prioritizing one game over the other.)
:* How should disambiguation links to sections about upgrades that function similarly to upgrades in other games but have different names be formatted?
:There's also the question of whether the Parts Detector should be documented in the same section as the Treasure Gauge in Pikmin 4 or a separate section, but this isn't related to splitting this article this way. — Soprano(talk) 05:45, November 27, 2025 (EST)
