I'm not sure if this would work, but I think I know how to figure out if the Main Engine or collecting a ship part unlocks The Forest of Hope.
If it does work, that should resolve the source needed on the Forest of Hope page, In case your wondering why I'm putting this here, it's because this is the only other ship part in the area. Anyway, one way to find out is to hack the game, so instead of discovering red Pikmin first, discover blues first.... (although this would likely cause problems for the color switched for the blues, as the spawn in water).
Then use glitches to get over to the generator, defeat the Clamp clamp and get the part..... although I don't know if such a hack would be possible as I'm not a hacker, but I don't see why it wouldn't work..... although would the blues still be able to breathe underwater or would the game treat them like reds and drown?
