This template writes down license information for a file, depending on the parameter passed. It also categorizes the page according to the license, unless the nocat parameter is provided. For game/media copyrighted fair use, remove the license parameter entirely from the {{file info}} template. To display a different license, valid values for the parameter are:

• cc by-sa 1.0: CC Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0. Optionally, add the attribution with parameter 2.
• cc by-sa 2.1 jp: Same as above, but CC Attribution-ShareAlike 2.1 Japan.
• cc by 2.0: Same as above, but CC Attribution 2.0.
• cc by-sa 2.0: Same as above, but CC Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0.
• cc by-nc-sa 2.0: Same as above, but CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0.
• cc by 2.5: Same as above, but CC Attribution 2.5.
• cc by-sa 2.5: Same as above, but CC Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5.
• cc by 3.0: Same as above, but CC Attribution 3.0.
• cc by-sa 3.0: Same as above, but CC Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0.
• cc by 4.0: Same as above, but CC Attribution 4.0.
• cc by-sa 4.0: Same as above, but CC Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0.
• gfdl 1.2: GNU Free Documentation License 1.2.
• gfdl 1.3: Same as above, but GNU Free Documentation License 1.3.
• pd: Public domain file.
• fairuse: A file being used under general fair use. Optionally, add the copyright holder with parameter 2.
• user: A user-made file where licensing information was not given. Optionally, specify the user with parameter 2.
• unknown: No license given; categorized to files with no license.
