There have been a number of rumours in the past concerning a Pikmin 3 being in production for the WiiU, and on July 15, 2008 at a private conference, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Pikmin 3 is in production. During E3 2012, Pikmin 3 was officially announced for the Wii U. The total number of sales for the series is approximately 3.70 million[http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=pikmin]. It has now been announced that Pikmin 3 is in production, and previews have been realesed. At E3 2012, Pikmin 3 was discussed and could be tried out; [[Challenge Mode (Pikmin 3)|a challenge mode]] in which the new leader is to collect fruit with red and the new [[rock Pikmin]] , and the other mode being a boss battle against the [[Armored Mawdad]].
