Romanization
Romanization (also known as rōmaji or romaji) is the act of writing Kanji or Kana using Latin letters, making it easier to read and pronounce them for readers who cannot understand Japanese characters. There are several types of romanization, such as Hepburn romanization or JSL romanization. Pikipedia has no defined romanization style, and it is quite normal to use the one provided by Google Translate; the "Ä" button must be pressed to enable romanization output.

Whenever possible, the "Names in other languages" section should explain the translation a bit better. When parts of the name cannot be translated into anything minimally logical, the words in question should be left untranslated, or the entire translation should be omitted.

Japanese names and popular names
In the creature articles you will find a section with additional information about their Japanese naming, the popular name and the Japanese name, of course both of them will be in Japanese, here's the explanation:
The first name given to the creatures in the games, as in the names that appear first in their entries and the way they are known normally, is known as the "popular name"(通称), which is basically a nickname given to the creatures(possible by Olimar). However when you look at their entries you will find the "Japanese name"(和名) which is simply that, their actual Japanese name, no nicknames given. This name is more specific than their popular name, for example: the Watery Blowhog's popular name is simply ミズブタ while its Japanese name is ヒフキブタドックリ(水吐変種). There are other creatures whose popular name is the same as their Japanese name for example the Emperor Bulblax whose popular and Japanese name is ダイオウデメマダラ.
The Japanese version of the Pikmin games lack scientific names, this were added in the overseas version of the games given that the Japanese names are only used in Japan.
