Bumbling Snitchbug: Difference between revisions

To distinguish it from the [[Swooping Snitchbug]], the first word in this enemy's name is "Bumbling", which means "doing something in a clumsy way", relating to its more disorganized way of moving. "Bumbling" also means "making a buzzing noise similar to a bee". {{w|Bumblebee}}s are known for having large hairs, which make them appear bigger than regular bees; perhaps this influenced the name of the Bumbling Snitchbug, given that it is larger than the Swooping Snitchbug.

 

The Bumbling Snitchbug's Japanese name is {{j|トテツチホカシ|Totetsuchi Hokashi}}, which comes from a corruption of {{j|取る|toru|pick up|f=tp}}, {{j|土|tsuchi|dirt|f=tp}} and {{j|ほかす|hokasu|dump|f=tp}}. Its scientific name is ''Scarpanica doofenia''. The meaning behind ''doofenia'' is unknown, but the word is similar to "[[wiktionary:doofus|doofus]]". Internally, it is called <code>demon</code>, although the reason for this is not known.
