According to the Piklopedia, both the various Pikmin and the Startle Spore belong to the Ambuloradicis class. Now, the term "Ambuloradicis" was only introduced in ''Pikmin 4'', but the Creeping Chrysanthemum's notes say it belongs to the same "group of creatures with ambulatory root structures" as Pikmin. So I looked up the Japanese version of the notes, and the term used is {{j|歩根類|hokonrui}}, meaning something like "walk-root class", the same name as the Ambuloradicis in Pikmin 4. So it turns out Pikmin 2 would have been the first mention of the class if the term existed in English back then. I'm just not sure what to do with this information... Regarding the Piklopedia leaves trivia topic: the Japanese equivalent of that line was actually changed from not needing leaves to not needing to perform photosynthesis using its leaves. The translators probably kept the line as it was because it already mentioned photosynthesis. I'm not sure how to explain this in article-worthy trivia terms, though.
