Antenna Beetles are creatures in Pikmin 2 that are an exceptional nuisance. They create extremely loud noises with their wings that are so loud, the supersonic waves disrupt the signal on the Treasure Gauge. Also, they are able to steal command of any Pikmin that are nearby, and the only way to get them back would be to kill it, or make it jump away. Having your Pikmin captured could be dangerous, because this creature may lead them into a hazard. If this creature is swarmed, it will be frightened off and jump very high and far, eventually, it will stumble and fall back down, this also occurs if you get near it, or punch it with your pilots. The best way to beat it is to throw your Pikmin on it, Purple Pikmin would work the best, as they may stun it, preventing it from getting up and jumping away.

Every now and then, you will find it only in the specific sublevels of certain caves. You will know immediately if one is in the area if the needle on the Treasure Gauge goes haywire, or that box glows purple, and it makes malfunctioning bleeps.

Olimar's Notes

This creature is able to control the pikmin by way of the peculiar frequency of its roar, but its only objective seems to be defensive in nature, as it stops pikmin from attacking and forces them to run away. This beast prefers humid, dimly-lit environments, and has been known to inhabit empty and discarded containers. For this reason, it's wise to thoroughly ventilate any specimens that are recovered. Lifting off with one of these creatures in the hold can lead to a rupturing of the specimen during compression, resulting in an explosive mess.

Louie's Notes

Extract meat from the exoskeleton and sear on all sides in a hot wok to seal in the flavor. Top the dish with a splash of spicy peanut sauce.
