Actually, no other image documented in that page has an extension, and Nintendo's allergic to PNG files. I'll assume this was an editorial mistake.
(Added some unused Pikmin stuff in SM3DAS and TLOZTP. I've also renamed the section to be more inclusive, and renamed the "debatable references" section to "debatable appearances", since it's more correct.)
