The blog system is... well, it's a different way to implement a feature that's already standard in wikis. No normal wiki has discussions like Wikia does. The Wikia way of using a chat mural is a bit splattered, and although it's more seamless, it's not really a thing most wikis would need. You might find the regular system we use different, but not necessarily worse.
