This is easiest to reproduce with the [[lightning shock]], since the shortcut can be timed with the press of the button instead of its release, as is the case with something like a bomb rock.

The leader should perform a jump in Oatchi's direction to get on him, but if the wall is low enough they will jump on top of the wall instead.
| explanation = The leader's mount hop will be interrupted if a wall gets in the way of its completion. Usually this will simply cause the leader to simply fall back to the ground. However, if the arc of the hop is only interrupted once the player is on top of a wall, they'll remain on top of it once the hop is cancelled.

| howto = Position Oatchi and the rookie at the base of the ledge. Switch to Oatchi to make sure he doesn't move after being positioned. The rookie should be as far away from Oatchi as possible and still be able to press {{button|switch|y}} to ride him. Throw a Bomb Rock in between the rookie and Oatchi, then turn away and whistle. This removes the Bomb Rocks from the rookie's hands without whistling Oatchi. Once the Bomb Rock is about to explode, press {{button|switch|y}} to ride Oatchi. If done correctly, the Bomb Rock will explode while the rookie is midair, and knock them onto the ledge. To get even higher, throw the Bomb Rock as Oatchi, whistle the rookie, then jump.
| explanation = Knockback is applied when the rookie officer is hit by an explosion, even when they aren't on the ground. The rookie officer does a small hop to mount Oatchi. The arc of this hop is calculated by the rookie officer's current position and their expected end position, being Oatchi's back. The apex of this arc can be forced higher by having the rookie officer and Oatchi stand far apart, and even higher by jumping as Oatchi. Whistling the rookie as Oatchi will also initiate mounting hop. If a bomb explodes when the rookie is in the apex position of a mounting hop, the knockback from the explosion will cancel the mount. If the apex point is also higher than a wall opposite the bomb, the rookie will be knocked on top of it.

| howto = Have one leader stand by the bunker, and have the other leader automatically go through a downwards facing [[tunnel]], like with [[Go Here]] or by carrying something. Right before they enter the tunnel, unlock the bunker, and the leader that went through the tunnel should be tiny.
| explanation = The game shrinks anything that enters a regular tunnel until it is smaller than the diameter of the hole. This is to keep things from clipping while entering and can be seen in game. When exiting a tunnel, everything shrunken has its size restored. By opening the vault before the exit is reached, this process is interrupted. Because [[Oatchi]] or the [[Rookie Rescue Officer]] never reached the exit of the tunnel, their size was never restored.

They also can still use items if  Moss collects a [[Mystery Capsule]]. Because Moss is unable to reach the opponent's position, she could sometimes slowly walk in circles near them. If the opponent is pushed off of the pail, they will be able to move again.
| explanation = This happens because the game does not consider the pail as a valid part of the path graph. Leaders and Oatchi, as well as any thrown Pikmin, will also not be able to escape via [[Go Here!]], the [[Idler's Alert]], etc.

| explanation = Falling into a [[pit]] teleports treasures, Oatchi, and the [[Rookie Rescue Officer]] back to the ground. The game does this by setting checkpoints at the object or player's position when said position is considered safe. This is why Oatchi teleports back to the ground where he had stood initially, instead of on top of the wall where he was standing more recently.

| howto = Throw 5 Pikmin of the Candypop Bud's type into it. It will spit out the 5 [[sprout|seed]]s back and open up again to allow more Pikmin. During this opening sequence, throw more Pikmin at it. Eventually, some of them will be considered inside the Candypop Bud and ready for conversion, while in reality they actually slid off the flower and are in the sublevel with you. As a result, when the Candypop Bud spits out more seeds, it will include some extras because of the Pikmin it thinks it managed to take in. By repeating this over and over, the extras will eventually pile up and can break the Pikmin limit. This glitch is easiest to perform with Purple Pikmin.
