Over 60% of users voted for Kingdom of Beasts, which is the 5th poll in Pikipedia’s 60 poll history to have 60% of voters agree on the same option. Although a good idea in theory, spending a year with polls that will get the result “the cave that’s based on Pikmin 2” isn’t very interesting (Which, by the way, tells me a lot about Pikmin 4’s game design). My criteria of a cave that’s inspired is simply looking at that cave’s Pikipedia article “See also” section and adding it to the list if it had a cave from Pikmin 2. However, I did manually remove [[Burrow of Beginnings]], [[Last-Frost Cavern]] and [[Drafty Gallery]] from the list, which were linked to the [[Emergence Cave]], Emergence Cave and [[Subterranean Complex]] respectively. Being the first cave of their respective games is not a good linking point, and I genuinely could not find any correlation between Last-Frost and Drafty with their Pikmin 2 supposed “counterparts”. * I think the options in this poll could be improved. Using "See also" sections is not a good way to make a list of similar caves, since these sections aren't always consistent in what kinds of articles they link to. ''Pikmin 4'' has several sublevels that are similar to sublevels in ''Pikmin 2''; for example, sublevel 1 of the [[Drafty Gallery]] has a similar layout to sublevel 2 of the [[White Flower Garden]]. But even if a cave has a sublevel that's similar to one in ''Pikmin 2'', that doesn't mean the entire cave is inspired by a ''Pikmin 2'' cave. ** Thought [[Cradle of the Beast]] definitely has the weakest list out of the 6 options, I do believe it is just strong enough to enter. Its walls are made out of bricks, which was the theme of the original [[Frontier Cavern]]. The main link is that the boss sublevel is eerily similar, comprising of a one-directional loop with [[Bulborb Larvae]] that eventually leads to an [[Empress Bulblax]] that gives birth that’s facing the other way. Even if it is a somewhat weak link, it’s still much better than the link between the [[Drafty Gallery]] and [[Subterranean Complex]]. I don’t really see the harm in including Cradle of the Beast, but a moderator may remove it if this is selected. Stage creation and sharing has never been seen before, so it makes less sense to me to include that in the poll. Why do Yellow Pikmin matter here, you ask (you probably already know, you're the second-in-command on the most comprehensive Pikmin internet database to ever exist) - the Fiery Bulblax has to be fought (or at least seen, maybe there's a way to get past it without killing it but I don't recall that being possible sans-glitches) for Yellow Pikmin to be discovered, and Yellow Pikmin have to be discovered for Orange Bulborbs to be encountered (unless the player goes out of their way to grind enemies for hours so they can repay the debt). So it's essentially undeniable that the Fiery Bulblax will be found before the Orange Bulborb would be, as well as the Hairy Bulborb, as it is in caves that require Blues (or are in the Wistful Wild). So we can be certain that Fiery Bulblaxes are the first-encountered new-introduced Bulborb in ''Pikmin 2''. As for what goes next, it's not certain the player will encounter either one first, but Hairy Bulborbs require Yellows and Blues to be discovered, but Orange Bulborbs only require Yellows to be discovered (again, they can both be found in Wistful Wild, but this is much less likely and shouldn't really be taken into consideration), so I think Orange Bulborbs should go first. In summary: I believe the order should be (Red) Bulborb, Spotty Bulbear, Fiery Bulblax, Orange Bulborb, Hairy Bulborb, Whiptongue Bulborb, and Frosty Bulborb.<br>As for whether or not we should call it the "Red Bulborb" or the "Bulborb"... hmm. *** Breadbug: Maybe someone could call this a boss, but I've always just thought of it as a rare enemy. There's only one, but it hardly poses a threat to Pikmin; I doubt many people would think this is one, especially if they know the series well.
*** Bulborb/Fiery Blowhog/Puffy Blowhog/Spotty Bulbear/Water Dumple/Wollyhop/Yellow Wollyhop: All of these enemies are the beefier, tougher ones out of the game's selection, but there are multiple of them wherever they appear, so I'd find it hard to mistake any of them for a boss.
*** Dwarf Bulborb/Dwarf Bulbear/Male Sheargrub/Shearwig: These all have strength in numbers, but definitely couldn't be thought of as bosses due to their small size.
*** Female Sheargrub/Honeywisp/Iridescent Flint Beetle/Wolpole: All of these are harmless or actively serve to help the player, need I say more?
*** Swooping Snitchbug: These are really just nuisances and hardly pose a threat in terms of Pikmin casualties.
*** Pearly Clamclamp: This is really the only one that I could see being thought of as a boss. Aside from the Goolix and Mamuta, it's the only enemy in The Impact Site, and can be fairly threatening. However, there are multiple, so I've never really thought of it as one.
:: Of course, criteria for what people think of as bosses differs from person to person, but I think a general thing is a more difficult enemy that is used sparingly by the devs and always serves to impede the player from reaching what they protect. The Breadbug, a Puffy Blowhog, and a Pearly Clamclamp drop a ship part, but the latter two aren't the only ones of their kind that appear in their areas, and also either can't directly harm Pikmin or can't harm them unless they're directly attacked, which isn't incredibly threatening like a boss should be. This leaves the Breadbug, which I have never lost a single Pikmin to, and even in the instance where Pikmin are in danger of being lost to it, they can be very easily recovered as the Breadbug is dragging whatever they're carrying to its hole. That's the only entry I think could really be perceived as a boss, but its page here considers it an enemy, as does the majority of the community, to my knowledge. I know that list was ''not'' necessary, but I just wanted to comprehensively address the possibility of there being confusion. * I like this question, but I'm not sure if it would work too well. First off, the three-type limit of Pikmin 4, as well as the differing types between games anyway, would cause this question some trouble. Readers might wonder which game it refers to, considering that some of these options simply aren't possible in the most recent entry of the series. We'd probably have to choose a single game to ask this about, but I don't see a clear one to pick. 1 has less types and 4 obviously has the limit, so those are less viable, but 2 and 3 both have a solid 5 available, with only fairly moderate differences between them. Still, which to choose I wouldn't be able to decide, and I do feel as though we'd be missing out, considering that 4 has more types than any other game. Maybe it'd be interesting to see this done for Pikmin 2, considering that Purples and Whites are rarer than the others, and are all found early on enough where people would have to make this decision in any single playthrough enough times to formulate an opinion? I like this question a fair bit but simultaneously have not much of an idea how to implement it. I often play by planning out exactly what Pikmin types to bring but also sometimes just bring 20 of each type, so I do think this could be an interesting question to think about if the name was changed to ask which squad format you opt for most commonly, among the other suggested changes.<br>I think, if we were to ask, "Which Pikmin squad makeup do you most often choose take with you before a day in ''Pikmin 2''?" * I personally don't deem the wording too consequential here (minus taking away the parts of the question that suit recently released games); "what do you think of" and "how do you feel about" basically accomplish the same thing. However, I do think the statement "how do you feel" correlates more to one's personal opinion (i.e. "I like it"), whereas "what do you think of" correlates a bit more to one's view of the game itself (i.e. "it's good"), so I think "how do you feel" works a little better with the current options, but that's not a very big detail. When it comes to options themselves, I think rating it out of 5 would make things a bit less standardised between voters, which could be a bad thing; a 4 to someone can mean "it's really great but not 100% perfect", whereas to someone else it can mean "it's solid" or "I like it" (already one of the answer options); these are sizeably different answers that could be encompassed by the same option if less detail is provided to each one, so I support keeping the choices with the more specific wording they have now. ** Considering what you've said, I also think "how do you feel about" works a bit better, so I've changed the questions to use this wording, but I'm still not sure, and we could go back to the previous wording or use another wording. Changing the poll to be about rating the game out of 5 would be changing how people would answer compared to the current options, and considering what you've said about how people could interpret ratings differently, I think it's better to continue to use worded options. **** It feels like it's asking for a more detailed response than the simple responses of the options. But the same thing could also be said about the previous wording. Also, as you've said, it makes the question more about personal opinions on a game, rather than about how good the game is. There are advantages to both types of question, but the current wording works better with the current options. We could change the options to fit the previous wording better, but I don't think the poll would be as interesting (the options could be "It's great", "It's good", "It's okay", "It's bad", and "It's terrible" if we did this). I'm of the opinion that the simplicity of the options effectively simplifies the question itself (that is to say, the question could both be replied to with a large paragraph or a short answer depending on the context, but we already provided the context), so it's not like there's a huge deficit between the question and the answers. When it comes to personal opinion versus how good the game is, I think they are similar in nature, but I agree that this wording is slightly more interesting. I do think "I think it's okay" would flow a bit better, being more consistent. * I like the idea of a poll like this, but I don't think asking about the first 5 stages in Collect Treasure! specifically would work very well, because these are not the only Collect Treasure! stages, and these stages are also in Battle Enemies!. I think a better poll with the same options would be "Which of the first 5 Mission Mode stages in ''Pikmin 3'' is your favorite?". This would include Collect Treasure! and Battle Enemies!, and I think asking just about the first 5 stages is OK because they're in both modes and they're the stages unlocked by default.
