# (Nominator:) A poll about what people think of Pikmin 1, based on past polls about what people think of recently released games. — Soprano(talk) 22:10, January 26, 2026 (UTC)
# Sounds good to me, provided the small discussion in the comments gets resolved first. <span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif"><span style="color:#1e02f5">Deeb1324354657</span> (<span style="color:#1e02f5">talk</span>)</span> 16:18, January 27, 2026 (UTC)

* This poll, and the similar polls about Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3, are based on past polls about Hey! Pikmin, Pikmin Bloom, and Pikmin 4, that were asked shortly after each of those games was released, to see how people felt about them during this period. I think it's possible to ask the same kind of poll for older games, but some changes are required. Those polls used the wording "What do you think of [game] so far?", and their options were written as if people were currently playing the game. Since many people wouldn't be currently playing the older games, the "so far" needs to be removed and the options need to be changed slightly. These simple changes to the poll format would work, but I wonder if the format could be improved. Is "What do you think of" the best wording for the question, or would something different such as "How do you feel about" work better? Could the wording of the options be changed? Since there are 5 options that are in a scale from best to worst, could the question and options instead be about rating the game out of 5? What do people think about the wording and options of this poll, and could the format be improved? (Any changes made to this poll will also be made to the similar polls about Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3.) — Soprano(talk) 22:10, January 26, 2026 (UTC)
* I personally don't deem the wording too consequential here (minus taking away the parts of the question that suit recently released games); "what do you think of" and "how do you feel about" basically accomplish the same thing. However, I do think the statement "how do you feel" correlates more to one's personal opinion (i.e. "I like it"), whereas "what do you think of" correlates a bit more to one's view of the game itself (i.e. "it's good"), so I think "how do you feel" works a little better with the current options, but that's not a very big detail. When it comes to options themselves, I think rating it out of 5 would make things a bit less standardised between voters, which could be a bad thing; a 4 to someone can mean "it's really great but not 100% perfect", whereas to someone else it can mean "it's solid" or "I like it" (already one of the answer options); these are sizeably different answers that could be encompassed by the same option if less detail is provided to each one, so I support keeping the choices with the more specific wording they have now. If I'm really nitpicking, I'd also say that "it's nothing special" feels a little too casual or colloquial; saying "it's okay" or "it's fine" might be a little more consistent with the other choices, but these are all fairly minor statements just to make sure the polls are as good as they can be. <span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif"><span style="color:#1e02f5">Deeb1324354657</span> (<span style="color:#1e02f5">talk</span>)</span> 16:18, January 27, 2026 (UTC)
** Considering what you've said, I also think "how do you feel about" works a bit better, so I've changed the questions to use this wording, but I'm still not sure, and we could go back to the previous wording or use another wording. Changing the poll to be about rating the game out of 5 would be changing how people would answer compared to the current options, and considering what you've said about how people could interpret ratings differently, I think it's better to continue to use worded options. I think the "It's okay" option wording is an improvement, so I've changed the polls to use this. — Soprano(talk) 22:59, January 28, 2026 (UTC)
*** What about the title wording are you unsure of? I personally think the poll accomplishes what it needs to. <span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif"><span style="color:#1e02f5">Deeb1324354657</span> (<span style="color:#1e02f5">talk</span>)</span> 23:39, January 29, 2026 (UTC)
**** It feels like it's asking for a more detailed response than the simple responses of the options. But the same thing could also be said about the previous wording. Also, as you've said, it makes the question more about personal opinions on a game, rather than about how good the game is. There are advantages to both types of question, but the current wording works better with the current options. We could change the options to fit the previous wording better, but I don't think the poll would be as interesting (the options could be "It's great", "It's good", "It's okay", "It's bad", and "It's terrible" if we did this). Now I'm wondering if the "It's okay" option in the current options should be changed to "I think it's okay" to be in the same format as the other options, or if it's better in its current format. — Soprano(talk) 08:51, January 30, 2026 (UTC)
***** That's fair. I'm of the opinion that the simplicity of the options effectively simplifies the question itself (that is to say, the question could both be replied to with a large paragraph or a short answer depending on the context, but we already provided the context), so it's not like there's a huge deficit between the question and the answers. When it comes to personal opinion versus how good the game is, I think they are similar in nature, but I agree that this wording is slightly more interesting. I do think "I think it's okay" would flow a bit better, being more consistent. Overall, I don't think the poll is currently in a situation where there is much room for improvement; if we evaluate the effectiveness of polls based on how easy they are to "use" from viewers, I don't think this poll would cause much confusion and I think it is fairly easy to answer. <span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif"><span style="color:#1e02f5">Deeb1324354657</span> (<span style="color:#1e02f5">talk</span>)</span> 20:54, January 30, 2026 (UTC)
