5 meter squares, or some level of s2 cell?

Is the flower planting in a 5 meter by 5 meter square, or is it in some s2 level cell?

This does affect planting around a PoI, I suppose. Do PoI's have a radius of so many S2 cells, or a radius of 40 meters regardless of the s2 cell count (given that there is a variation in size of a cell in different locations)?

I'm not actually sure; I've heard conflicting information from researchers. S2 cells are definitely used somewhere as they're in the game's licenses page, but flower planting cells seem to be aligned to the compass (which S2 cells don't do). It turns out that cell boundaries are aligned to the axes of latitude and longitude, and the size of a cell in degrees varies by latitude to keep cells a similar size. Pikmin squad size is 15 at lvl5

There seems to be a 5x5 planting with squad size 36?

With squad size 36 when I consume one petal, stationary, with the cooldown passed, it gives me 25 flowers planted. Or am I misunderstanding the mechanic? With squad size 29, I get 16, so a 4x4. --Akda5id (talk) 09:44, May 11, 2026 (UTC)
