How the hell do we know that this ISN'T just PNF-404, just at some point in time where it's a little different from the mainline games? In my opinion it just all seems to look like this is just PNF-404 (considering the wildlife and also treasures, as well as the fact that Pikmin are even here) but just somewhat geographically different. Time likely moves differently on PNF-404 than it does on say, Hocotate or Koppai, so to me it's not too unlikely that some lands might've shifted around a bit while Olimar was gone. Right at the beginning of the game, the S.S. Dolphin II expresses surprise that the Pikmin are found on multiple planets. That implies that this planet is not the one Olimar landed on before. — Soprano_(talk) 20:56, August 29, 2023 (EDT)

what if the planet is a future terraformed Mars and the reason that we see overlapping creatures on these planets is that humans brought some of pnf 404's life to it this would also imply that humans existed long enough to see some of the pikmin species, which would also explain why everything looks relatively newly abandoned.
