:Do you mean the icon image, or how the icon gets applied when you call {{tem|icon}}? For the former, it depends. Icons from Pikmin 2 come directly from the Piklopedia textures in the game. Other icons are created by grabbing official art (or similar), and adding a black border around it. For the template, it's a very complicated template, but basically, it grabs the name of the subject you send to the template, and places the file called <code>File:&lt;subject&gt; icon.png</code>.
