It is not known whether this was a normal thing in a [[Pikmin prerelease information|previous version of the game]] or if the screenshot is actually demonstrating the supposed glitch. On the [[enemy reel]]'s [[Breadbug]] clip, a Breadbug can be seen trying to carry away a yellow 1 pellet, but is overpowered by some Pikmin tugging on the other side. It is very hard to see how many Pikmin are holding on to the pellet, both because they can't be seen from the angle the clip was shot at, and because there are no carrying numbers.
