Yellow Wollyhop: Difference between revisions

The "Yellow" in its name distinguishes it from the regular [[Wollywog]]. Like the [[Wollywog]] and [[Wogpole]], the creature was renamed to "Yellow Wollyhop" in the European [[Region|version]]s of {{npcp1}}, {{npcp2}}, and {{p3}}, and in all English versions of the [[Nintendo Switch]] HD rereleases of ''Pikmin'' and ''Pikmin 2''. In Japan, it is known as {{j|イモガエル|Imo Gaeru}}, which means "Potato Frog". {{j|イモ|imo}} means potato, which refers to its shape, while {{j|ガエル|gaeru}} is close to {{j|カエル|kaeru}}, which means frog.

 

Its scientific name is ''Amphicaris frodendum'', the same as the [[Wogpole]]'s. Internally, it is known as <code>frog</code> in all games besides ''Hey! Pikmin'', which uses the written English translation of the Japanese name without a space, <code>Imogaeru</code>. Although the Yellow Wollywog is the one whose name uses a color identifier to distinguish it from the "common" Wollywog, the reality is that the Yellow Wollywog is the common one. This is because the Wogpole grows into a mature Yellow Wollywog, and there is no tadpole equivalent for the albino Wollywog, and because this creature's internal name is the one to use the common "frog" name. Naturally, there is also the fact that this Wollywog is more common in all games it appears.
