To get to the Hole of Heroes, take a right after leaving the landing area and defeat the Hermit Crawmad in the water.  Demolish the gate, drain the lake and take Yellow Pikmin to the electric gate at the other end of the area there. Defeat the Armored Cannon Beetle Larva waiting behind that and gather the nectar and sprays in the eggs next to the cave entrance before going in.

Obviously you will encounter hordes of enemies and al hazards in this cave. It is highly recommended you take 20 of each color of Pikmin. This way you can face every obstacle with the right color. If you are a bit more confident in your abilities, it might be of interest for you to take 40 Purple Pikmin and 15 of every other color.

This is a small section in the middle of a field, walled off by pebbles. The Corpulent Nut is in one of the "dead ends". However, be careful on your way to the treasure. Sheargrubs will ambush you. The quickest way to defeat them is to smash them down with Purple Pikmin. You should only bother with the larger enemies like the Burrow-nits and Chrysanthemums if they're in the way to the treasure. Lastly, be ready to fight any Dwarf Orange Bulborbs that fall from above. They often drop down on you when you walk into a dead end. There are a couple eggs that might help you in some of the dead ends.

There will often be a Burrow-nit or Creeping Chrysanthemum in the way of a treasure. If so, deal with the enemy aby itself. Eliminate all smaller nearby enemies before you take the large ones. The Chrysanthemums are obviously your biggest threat. They can be taken care of most effectively by tossing your Purple Pikmin and stunning it. If it manages to catch a Pikmin, you have a very limited window to save it so defeating the Chrysanthemum as quickly as possible is recommended. Lastly, be ready to fight any Dwarf Orange Bulborbs that fall from above. They often drop down on you when you walk into a dead end. If this occurs, do not panic. Direct your Pikmin, who should be close by,to just attack the bulborb. 9 times out of 10 you will not suffer a loss. There are a couple eggs that might help you in some of the dead ends.

It may be a small sublevel, but it's packed with all the Blowhog varieties- two Fiery, two Watery, two Withering, and a Puffy Blowhog. Almost always there will be some kind of Blowhog sending out some kind of pestilence through a fence that your Pikmin are working on. If it is fire or water, use Reds or Blues respectively to knock down the wall. If it is some kind of wind, Purple Pikmin can be used because of their resistance to being blown down, but nothing should deter you from using the rest of your Pikmin as well. An alternate strategy is to shoot off a bitter spray through the wall — but only if you're determined to keep your Pikmin's flowers (which is understandable, considering the difficulty of the next sublevel's battle.) On this sublevel, Volatile Dweevils may drop from above. Keep your Pikmin away from them and see if you can get them to damage some of the Blowhogs in the immediate area with their explosive attacks.

In my opinion, the wind blowhogs are more dangerous than the fire/water types. It is hard to lose any pikmin on this sublevel through a blowhog-related death. But it is possible. There is a small chance that the Puffy Blowhog can blow your Pikmin into the small pits between the walls. Its unlikely but frustrating nonetheless. Dealing with wind blowhogs up front will not yield good results. Try to get behind or under them, and then let loose with purple pikmin.

In this level, there is a Pileated Snagret and a Burrowing Snagret. A pit which drags Pikmin to its center is also present in the middle of the arena-like cave. Note that only the Pileated Snagret holds a treasure, so concentrate on it and avoid the Burrowing Snagret. It is advisable to search for the Pileated on the rim of the pit, so that it can be attacked without having to worry about getting pulled away. It will leave behind the Lustrous Element.

The pit in the middle is a minor obstacle if you comb the rim. It is recommended to use yellow pikmin. If you hammer it with enough pikmin, it will not attack while it is above ground. Remember that the best way to attack a snagret is to wait for only its head to rise above the ground and throw pikmin while it struggles. Note that this pileated snagret is not as big as the one in the Snagret Hole, meaning aiming will be a little easier.

* Dimensional Slicer

This sublevel has every Grub-dog in the game (excluding Emperor- and Empress Bulblax, and Water Dumple), and trios of all the dwarves. A Bitter spray is recommended for the Spotty Bulbear, because it regains its health after death, and will crumple with a spray, leaving no corpse that could be revived. Also, depending on the layout, if a wall separates you from the Bulbear, you can save sprays by punching the Bulbear without any worry (your attacks can harm the Bulbear, for they'll go through the wall, but the Bulbears won't). Just be quick to take the corpse back. The Fiery Bulblax can be killed with Purples; the Pikmin must be thrown onto the Bulblax's back, and whistled back before they burn to death. This needs to be repeated until the enemy has died, then it will drop the Dimensional Slicer.
