The Calcified Crushblat sits motionlessly on the ground with its legs retracted, resembling nothing more than a crystaline rock on the ground. However, as the player approaches, it will begin to visibly breath heavily, get up, and walk around. It will not actively attack Pikmin or players, but if they walk underneath it, it will not hesitate to sit on them and crush them.
The Crushblat will start sitting on the ground with its legs folded underneath it, invisible; to all appearances a completely normal crystal rock. Upon walking up to it, it will stand and begin sprinting around the arena. It will not attack, and can be ignored; however, to begin the fight, it must be attacked. The Calcified Crushblat will run at the Pikmin and attempt to sit on them; this attack will crush all Pikmin except for Rock Pikmin.

As the calcified layer of this creature is very hard, one must use either Rock Pikmin or Bomb Rocks. Because Rock Pikmin tend to only break away small portions, it is recommended to use Bomb Rocks whenever possible, as they will blow away a portion of the armor and expose the creature within to attack.

Once exposed, simply throw Pikmin on the exposed tender flesh of the Crushblat. Once defeated, its entire crystaline casing will shatter and it will fall dead onto the floor. However, it is advised that only a small portion of the armor is removed, as it will be able to run faster as more armor is taken off of it.

Before the armor is removed, it will do more damage to captains when it sits down and squash all non-Rock Pikmin. After the armor is removed, it does almost half the damage to players, but its body stretches outwards and knocks over Captains and Pikmin. However, it is now completely incapable of crushing any Pikmin.

Another possible strategy is to simply swarm it's feet until it dies; however this is dangerous as it can easily crush them.
It can be attacked via bomb-rocks and Rock Pikmin; bomb-rocks blow off much armor at once, but with Rock Pikmin, the intensity can be more carefully controlled. The reason it is advised to not break off the whole shell (the Crushblat can be attacked and killed without having to have all of its shell removed) is that the Crushblat becomes faster as the shell is blown off. A good strategy is to use one or two bomb-rocks and finish it off with Rock Pikmin. Once the actual flesh of the Crushblat is exposed, throw Pikmin on it to lower its health.

Trivia
Upon its death, the crystal shell will always break, no matter how much you managed to destroy during the fight, and the player may collect its carcass.
*In reality, calcification usually takes around 3-4 years to take place.
*Although the Calcified Crushblat can respawn, the calcified layer never respawns, suggesting that calcification takes a long time on PNF-404 also.
*The Crushblat's appearance when its armor is taken off somewhat resembles the Large-Mouth Wollywog from Pikmin Adventure.
*Although the Crushblat shows many qualities a mini-boss has, such as being in only one location and having a seperate arena for it, it does not play the remixed Pikmin 2 boss theme like the other minibosses.
*Interestingly, the Crushblat's head still expands and retracts after its death.

*It is possibly in the, or in the same order, as members of the Amphituber family, due to its amphibian appearance and method of attack,
On a side note, another reason to break the shell is that, if the Crushblat manages to harm a Captain, it will do less damage; however, the downside is that the Crushblat will be able to stretch its body to attack from longer distances. However, it will not be able to actually kill Pikmin; it can only trip them.
*The Calcified Crushblat is the third creature, and only non-boss enemy, in Pikmin 3 that requires the use of Rock Pikmin to defeat. The Calcified Crushblat is an entirely new enemy that makes its debut in Pikmin 3. It is a strange creature, apparently just a head with long, chicken-like legs; the head is encased in a crystal shell that only Rock Pikmin can break. Once it is broken, the true head is revealed to be entirely frog-like, causing it to look even more bizarre. It is encountered only once in the game, in the Tropical Wilds; it has all the qualifications of a miniboss, the specialized miniboss music does not play upon fighting it, its exact status is unclear.

Strategy

The Crushblat will start sitting on the ground with its legs folded underneath it, invisible; to all appearances a completely normal crystal rock. Upon walking up to it, it will stand and begin sprinting around the arena. It will not attack, and can be ignored; however, to begin the fight, it must be attacked. The Calcified Crushblat will run at the Pikmin and attempt to sit on them; this attack will crush all Pikmin except for Rock Pikmin.

Upon its death, the crystal shell will always break, no matter how much you managed to destroy during the fight, and the player may collect its carcass.

On a side note, another reason to break the shell is that, if the Crushblat manages to harm a Captain, it will do less damage; however, the downside is that the Crushblat will be able to stretch its body to attack from longer distances. However, it will not be able to actually kill Pikmin; it can only trip them.
