Vulpes cauda, this is not the scientific name given by humans.
The Foxtail (ネコジャラシ) is a rare plant used for scenery in Pikmin 2; it is only seen in the Valley of Repose, the Wistful Wild and the Sniper Room. It does not affect gameplay at all, as it is only for decoration. This plant appears as a withered grass stalk with a plume of seeds on the tip.

A Foxtail is much like a Horsetail, except, it is much lighter looking, and sways in the wind. It also has a more soft and puffy top, not to mention that it actually produces leaves. This plant is about slightly rarer then the Dandelion family members, but can still be found in several places. The Valley of Repose, despite its unforgiving climate, yields some in a few corners and spots. This is possibly because the seedlings begin to grow in the fall (i.e. Wistful Wild) and vanish after the end of winter.
