'''Featured articles''' are articles that are notable for their high quality and importance. They should be complete in content, be well-written, follow the [[Pikipedia:Policies and guidelines|policies and guidelines]], and be interesting enough to be put on the Main Page. They should also have a very minimal amount of tasks that need to be done, and should not be about spoiler-heavy subjects.


==Changing the featured article==
On Pikipedia, an article is selected to be featured every 2 months, and the newly-featured article is shown on the [[Main Page]], while previously featured articles are kept in [[:Category:Featured articles]]. To decide which article to feature next, all editors are encouraged to '''[[Pikipedia:Featured article/nominations|nominate and vote]]''' on articles. When the time comes to change to a new article, one trusted editor gets tasked with checking the nominations, discussing with the community tie-breakers and other details, and update the front page. Detailed instructions for that editor can be found [[Pikipedia:Main Page update|here]].
The featured article text is located at [[Template:Feature]]. Edit this template to change the featured article.  You must:
*Add the ''Featured'' template to the top of the main article of the new feature, including the date, in the form ''<nowiki>{{featured|date}}</nowiki>''.
*Update the previous featured article to have the end date in the "featured" template, in the form ''<nowiki>{{featured|start date|end date}}</nowiki>''.  Move this to the bottom of the page, but keep it above any footer.
*Update the [[#Previous featured articles|Previous featured articles section of this page]].
*Move the nomination on the [[/nominations|nominations page]] to the [[/past nominations|archive]].
