The Sun-Speckled Terrace is a generally open area with an abundant amount of glow pellets lying around to be collected during a night expedition. Each starting base holds a Lumiknoll, which has to be protected. The higher part of the area is locked off by a wheel, and there are two Tricknolls per expedition, excepted for the last one, which only has one.

The Ancient Arches is the first base introduced in night expeditions. There is only a single Lumiknoll to defend, and 2 Tricknolls that are positionned in such a way that they will serve as efficient bait to any enemies that run to the Lumiknoll. The Lumiknoll being next to the base, the only way to access it is the bridge (if it has been built) or the right path next to the bench. There are 20 glow pellet stacks available to gather during the expedition. Bulborb Larvas will come in groups of two or three, but because of how weak they are, they can easily be killed before they enter a state of frenzy in their respective spots.

There are 255 Glow Pellets accessible during the expedition, in the following pile amounts;

  1. A pile of 5 x 6
  2. A pile of 10 x 9
  3. A pile of 15 x 1
  4. A pile of 20 x 3
  5. A pile of 30 x 1
