Hey! Pikmin enemy stats
Hi Espyo. I've noticed that nearly every single Hey! Pikmin enemy stat table isn't filled out, or is only partially filled out, so I've been wondering if pikipedia can change it. This is probably because much of the categories (Weight, max carriers, regen, and seeds (pikmin seeds) are irrelevant as none of these mechanics are used in that game. Pikipedia was should probably invent a different stats table exclusive to Hey! Pikmin enemies. For enemies that appear in hey! Pikmin and other games (bulborb, fiery blowhog), there can be 2 different stats tables for those enemies, one for the main games, and one for H!P. I was thinking we can delete the max carriers, weight, and regen categories, and replace the seeds with sparklium, which some enemies drop upon death. We can also fix the health category by putting in the number of pikmin/pikmin hits needed to kill it, since there seems to not be any health values recorded. Although this would be smaller, the stats table would be more accurate. Maybe we can even come up with a new stats like speed. -CrazyCow
:Hi. Hm, that sounds like a good idea. The enemies do have a health number, and we can get that from the game files. It's just that nobody's done that yet. Pointing down the number of Pikmin throws it takes to kill isn't as reliable, especially because different Pikmin types cause different amounts of damage (I think). I'm also not sure if any enemy regenerates. If you could confirm that, that'd be nice. &mdash; {EspyoT} 16:59, 10 January 2019 (EST)
::Okey. So it seems like different Pikmin types do different damages (Reds do more, Wingeds do less). It seems like no one has really recorded the health, as the pikmin technological base wiki only supplies the internal names of enemies, and basically nothing else. Although we can measure the health using Yellow and Blue Pikmin, which mostly are referred to do "normal" damage, it wouldn't be a very accurate way to do this. However, most enemies in the game only need on hit to kill, regardless of the pikmin type, but the value of this is still uncertain. Some tables have 0 filled out in this case, while the Pikmin Fanon, another pikmin site has them filled out as 1. Oh yeah, and no enemy regenerates, as the corpses disappear and none do it like the Plasm Wraith. Perhaps we can use the technical damage used by Yellows and Blues from other games, and multiply that damage by the amount of hits to kill? Thanks for your feedback. ::Oops I meant "fandom" not fanon sorry CrazyCow (talk) 18:23, 13 January 2019 (EST)
:::Note that the wiki on fandom has been abandoned for years, and is filled with misinformation. Other than that, the values do exist in the files, as I've seen them. It's just that they never got documented anywhere by anyone. I want to find the time to do that one day... We could measure from the number of hits of a "normal" Pikmin, but there are a few problems. For one thing, there's the human error; a person counting dozens of hits by hand is bound to accidentally miscount one or two, and the situation becomes harder if, for instance, a Pikmin decides to jump on the enemy's back. Plus, I'm sure some enemies only appear in stages that only feature certain types of non-normal Pikmin. Getting the values from the game files and setting stuff up similarly to how the mainline games's stats table works should be easy enough. I'll try to do that as soon as I can. &mdash; {EspyoT} 18:35, 14 January 2019 (EST)
:::Okay, this is not going to be easy. Finding which files correspond to which enemies is a nightmare in and of itself. Then, we need to check if those health parameters in the files are even read by the game or not. I think this might need to be a mission for another time... &mdash; {EspyoT} 14:02, 19 January 2019 (EST)
::::Okay. I guess we can keep it the same for now and just focus on filling out the seeds dropped, which is a pretty definite value. There are also more important things to do, like cleaning those articles up, so I guess we should wait a while until we do this.
:::::Agreed! Though... while checking the game files, I could've sworn I found some fields that allow the area developers to override the seeds that an enemy can give... If this value is not definite, then documenting that will be a problem as well. &mdash; {EspyoT} 14:21, 19 January 2019 (EST)

Sorry for the confusion. I actually posted another message on Talk:Piklopedia earlier. For the Hermit Crawmad, the glitch I was referring to was the glitch that kills a small Hermit Crawmad when you walk into it while it is petrified. My thoughts when testing this were: "If the glitch works for leaders and Pikmin, then it should probably work for Pikpik Carrots too, since they do count as Pikmin. There isn't any reason for the glitch not to work in the Piklopedia." 16:42, 7 November 2016 (EST)

Problem with the notes
Hi Espyo. I found a difference in the notes of the Orange Bulborb between the GC and Wii (Europe only) versions of the game. As such, I made this. I thought it'd work like the notes for the treasures, so I tried putting Notes|olimar=y|olimarwiieu=y|louie=y, but it didn't work. I guess I shouldn't have created this page, but I'm a bit lost as to how I can include those notes in the article. How can I include them while keeping the GC notes? Thanks!

Time
Is the time of an edit set to a certain time zone? For me, it's 9:52 PM, October 12, and I made an edit a few minutes ago. But the contribs said that I made the edit on October 13, but it's definitely October 12 for me. It doesn't really matter, I just want to know. :Ah, it most likely is. Go to your user settings (same place where you change the signature), but go in the Appearance tab. There, you'll find the timezone option. Just change it to your preferred timezone, and it should show the edit times right for you. == Amiibo images ==
I've seen that you uploaded images of amiibo in Hey! Pikmin and I'm currently adding them in the amiibo pages. However, I wanted to ask if it's possible to focus only on the amiibo, and remove the things around them, such as the navigation tabs for the treasures, enemies, or the camera icon, for example. If you don't see what I mean, just look at the pictures I've made in the Oversized Replica and Exhausted Soldier pages. It's not important, but I want to know. Hugik (talk) 15:09, 17 October 2018 (EDT)
:I think we should have both. Keep the unchanged screenshots somewhere in the gallery, and when it comes to images for the infoboxes at the top of pages, we should use cropped images. You don't need to worry about taking photos of them because I'm working on getting the treasures and enemies in an emulator. Once I do, I'll be able to take high-quality screenshots of them all. &mdash; {EspyoT} 16:04, 17 October 2018 (EDT)

New article
Should there be a new article called Out of Bounds? I have discovered at least 7 places (In Pikmin 3) where it is possible to get out of bounds. If so, the article could have all the possible places to get out of bounds.
Also, is there any way that I can make a new page for me, to add things like my signature? <b><span style="color:orange">B</span></b>T 10:52, 28 October 2018 (EDT)
:Hm, that sounds like a good idea, actually! Go for it. And if you want to create a page for yourself, for you to test around things in or write personal notes, you can create a user page under your name. What this means is that you can create a page called "User:Ben/tests", replacing "tests" with whatever you want. You can create a new page by using the form on the Main Page, or by entering the URL for the page you want in your internet browser, and then clicking the button to create a page that shows up. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:57, 28 October 2018 (EDT)
Plot sections
I've noticed that for each area of Hey! Pikmin, there is a plot section. However, I was wondering if those parts are needed in all pages, because a lot of areas don't have any importance to the plot of the game. So, should we remove those sections in the pages where they're useless or should we keep them ? Hugik (talk) 08:09, 30 October 2018 (EDT)
:Those sections were added automatically with the blank skeleton for Hey! Pikmin area pages. If an area has plot relevancy, like First Expedition, then sure, we keep it. Otherwise, the section is meant to be deleted. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:13, 30 October 2018 (EDT)

Undiscovered glitch?
Hey, Espyo!
I was playing New Play Control! Pikmin and something weird happened. I had my Pikmin get the Gravity Jumper, when I realized that I didn’t build the bridge OR destroy any walls in the entire Forest Navel. I went to find some Bomb Rocks, when the Pikmin somehow got to the ship with the part! When I had last seen them, they were confused not knowing where to go! Was it some sort of glitch? I scanned the area, but couldn’t find any way they could have made it to the Dolphin.  So did I miss something, because I’ve only had the game for a few days, or is this an undiscovered glitch?
Thanks!

::Okay, I tried it, and I got an interesting result. The Pikmin made it back to the ship without delay OR any walls being destroyed in the process. So, when the Pikmin were confused for the minute I watched them a glitch, or do I just have dumb Pikmin?

If you want to check if a user replies to the welcoming message, you can add it, but you can probably also find a reply simply by checking the recent changes anyway. &mdash; {EspyoT} 11:03, April 14, 2019 (EDT)

Hi Espyo. I have discovered some odd side effects of the Formidable Oak Backwards glitch. I have made a video showing some of the odd effects. == Disappearing Pellet ==
Hey
I found new glitch in NPC Pikmin to where I can make a pellet disappear! I’m trying to get the video on the wiki, but it won’t register on the upload file page. Is there a different place to upload it? I’ve tried multiple times, so if there isn’t one, what should I do?
Thanks again,

Hi, I've recorded a video some weeks ago about a glitch that happened to me when I was playing Pikmin on Dolphin. I don't know what to do with it (I don't think it needs a whole section in the Glitches article), and I wanted your opinion on this phenomenon. It's just some sliding Nectar in The Forest Navel. == Apology for my edit of Infernal Vegetable ==
It was all my fault of editing unnecessary description of Japanese pronunciation. If I may make excuses, that edit was an act according to my conscience.
One day I watched Pikmin live streaming with many Japanese fans and some non-Japanese ones, One poor Japanese fan, Who wanted to tell "Ultra-bitter spray", but cannot speak English at all, chatted its compressed name in Romanization of Japanese (though it doesn't make any sense at all), "niga(bitter)". As you know it's morally evil in English, The atmosphere in that streaming suddenly become freaking out, and had a bad time (of course I explained what it means and told everyone). I remembered that painful memory until I edited Infernal Vegetable, and thought someone will make the same mistake again, I noted. However on second thought, people who should know that are Japanese fan, but not non-Japanese speakers, since non-Japanese speakers don't have chance to even know that Japanese word... After that is exact the same with your editing note.
I apologize you and all editors adding unnecessary description that relates to sensitive area. -PortableSunset (talk) 09:43, March 18, 2021 (EDT)
:It's all right, don't worry about it. Your story shows that some people are a bit too sensitive. The word is very taboo, but it's not the fault of the Japanese word for "bitter". If a person is using the n-word as it is, they should be careful, and if they are saying it on purpose, that's not good. But if they're just innocently talking about the spray, it's just a coincidence. Either way, I respect that you were worried about any misunderstandings. But thankfully it's not that complex, and we can just keep the Romanization as it is without any issue. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:53, March 18, 2021 (EDT)
Category:Map images, Category:Radar patterns, and Category:Maps
At the moment, :Category:Map images, :Category:Radar patterns, and :Category:Maps are very disorganized categories. From what I can tell, :Category:Map images is a very old category for map-type images, :Category:Radar patterns is specifically for textures of maps from the radar, and :Category:Maps is where :Template:File info places images with the type of Map. There's a lot of overlap in what types of images they cover, particularly in the case of :Category:Map images and :Category:Maps. In order to sort out this mess, I propose that :Category:Maps be merged with :Category:Map images by editing :Template:File info, and all the radar textures in :Category:Map images be moved to :Category:Radar patterns (over time, as there are several), and all the non-maps in :Category:Map images be removed. Perhaps we could have a category specifically for custom-made diagrams as well. Would this be a good idea? &mdash; Soprano(talk) 01:33, April 7, 2021 (EDT)
:That sounds like a plan to me. In fact, I'm even thinking the following: Category:Radar patterns for game textures that show any sort of map. Category:User-made maps for anything not official. Category:Maps as the parent category of the last two, and also as the house of any other map-related images. &mdash; {EspyoT} 14:42, April 9, 2021 (EDT)
::While that would involve changing the categorization of 158 files, I think that's a good plan. ::::Just the sub-category. A page should never be categorized under a category and also one of the parent categories. If it sounds like it should, then maybe the categories themselves are wrong... &mdash; {EspyoT} 15:54, October 9, 2021 (EDT)
:::::I ask because :Template:File info categorizes all images with the type of "map" into :Category:Maps, so we'd need to use the nocat parameter if we just wanted it to be in one of the subcategories. &mdash; Soprano(talk) 17:43, October 9, 2021 (EDT)
::::::Hmm, right. I think the template does that for other things too. I honestly can't figure out the best solution right now, so I guess we just let it happen. == How to report vandalism ==
It is too late at night for me to reliably work out how to make hyperlinks work given my current bout of illness, so forgive the plaintext here, but on the article for " https://www.pikminwiki.com/Glitches_in_Pikmin_3#Hard_to_reproduce ", the link next to the "Hard to reproduce" entry for "By changing from a leader that is in the Sandbelching Meerslug's fight to a leader that is elsewhere just before the boss is defeated, the game may show the defeat cutscene with the camera underground, and may then lock up. " has been edited at some point to link to a clip of an unrelated Joe Rogan podcast. I am uncertain how to revert the page to the relevant prior version, especially since the edit history seems to show a lock was placed on the page just yesterday, presumably due to other vandalism which was caught. == A question about Pikcross ==
Hello! On the April Fool's article, it says you're the programmer for the Pikcross April Fool's game, so I figure you're probably best suited to answer this question. I come asking on behalf of the Mario Wiki if it would be fine to use the Pikcross source code for an upcoming community event, as there's plans to include Picross puzzles as part of it, and the Pikcross game engine more than meets the requirements for having an in-browser Picross engine. This would be a modified version of Pikcross, hosting its own puzzles and presumably hosting its own graphics as well, but using the pre-existing code as a basis for it.
I figured since the source code is freely linked in the article itself, it's probably alright, but I wanted to ask just in case there's any problems with attribution or what-have-you. Camwoodstock (talk) 14:46, April 28, 2023 (EDT)
:Hey. I never gave the code a license, so it befalls under the wiki's standard CC BY SA 3.0. Even if I did bother to add a license I'd probably pick that. So just be sure to give proper attribution, and knock yourself out! The engine is slightly glitchy here and there, since I never had time to iron out the kinks, but it should be pretty well-documented and organized. If you come up with any improvements, please let me know so I can backport them to Pikcross. &mdash; {EspyoT} 10:35, April 29, 2023 (EDT)

Yeah, I can understand that, but having those sections labeled as No would be kinda implying that those abilities aren't in the game which would be misleading. hence why I added links to the relevent articles (which took me awhile to figure out how to do). was kinda meant to be more accurate then possibly implying said abilities debuted in 4 with the upgrade.Pikmin Theories (talk) 20:21, August 21, 2023 (EDT)
