The '''Frosty Bulborb''' ({{j|キンキンチャッピー|Kinkin Chappī|Ice-Cold Chappy}}) is an [[enemy]] in {{p4}}. It resembles a [[Bulborb]] in appearance, but is blue in coloration and has [[ice]] crystals covering its back and midsection. It acts almost identically to other Bulborbs, with the only notable difference being that it can freeze Pikmin other than [[Ice Pikmin]] if the ice crystals on its back have not been melted. It also has a juvenile form, the [[Dwarf Frosty Bulborb]].

== Behavior ==
The Frosty Bulborb acts just like other Bulborbs in that it lies asleep on the ground waiting until something wakes it up during the day, but it patrols its territory at night. If awoken or it notices prey, it will proceed to charge and attack the player and their squad of Pikmin by biting at them, eating up to a maximum of five Pikmin per bite, until they have left its territory. It will then stop chasing and return to its territory area and patrol for a little while until falling back to sleep. Since the Frosty Bulborb has ice crystals on its back, all Pikmin other than Ice Pikmin or Glow Pikmin will be frozen solid if they touch any part of the enemy. The only way to counteract this is to melt the ice using [[fire]]. Any fire source, such as a [[fire starter]] or [[fire geyser]], can melt the ice. Once the ice has been melted, the Frosty Bulborb acts like a normal Bulborb until the ice automatically regenerates after a little while.

== Appearance ==
Just like the regular [[Bulborb]], the Frosty Bulborb is a large bipedal creature with with a pair of eyes on stalks, two fangs on either side of their mouth, two toes on each leg; each having a single claw, and a pointed snout. Unlike the Bulborb, who has a red back, white spots and a beige-colored body, the Frosty Bulborb has a blue back with white spots, and its body is a lighter shade of blue, aside from the tip of its snout that is pink in color. Additionally, its back are is covered in [[ice]] crystals up to its midsection, which are capable of freezing non ice-resistant Pikmin, meaning it cannot be seen unless the ice is removed.

===With Pikmin===
This type of Bulborb will freeze any Pikmin other than [[Ice Pikmin]] or [[Glow Pikmin]] unless the ice on its back has been melted, such as with a [[fire starter]]. Therefore, Ice Pikmin or Glow Pikmin are the ideal types to fight it, though some locations will not allow for Glow Pikmin to be used. [[Swarm]]ing or [[charge|charging]] at it with a large [[squad]] of Pikmin is effective, but you can also circle around the enemy and throw Pikmin onto its back. If you have any [[Purple Pikmin]], they can be used to defeat this enemy with their slam attacks; if they land near but not on the Bulborb, they can damage it without being frozen.

===Alternative methods===
If you are lacking Ice Pikmin or Glow Pikmin, using [[Oatchi]] is a valid idea, so long as he has the {{oatchi|Thermal Defense}} equipped. If Oatchi has been upgraded enough, it is entirely feasible for him to just [[Rush]] at the Frosty Bulborb's back and leave him to it; having the {{oatchi|Air Armor++}}, {{oatchi|Tuff Stuff++}}, and a decently trained [[Oatchi#Big Chomp|Big Chomp]] is ideal. Additionally, you can make other sources of [[fire]] to melt the ice of its back, such as with [[fire geyser]]s, though this depends on whether there are any near the Bulborb.
