'''Iron fences''' are obstacles first appearing in {{p4}}. They consist of several upright metal bars arranged to form a wall, with space in-between each bar large enough for a leader and [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] to pass through, but too narrow for [[Oatchi]] or [[Moss]]. Pikmin [[carry]]ing objects are also unable to pass through, with the exception of small objects such as [[gold nugget]]s and [[raw material]].

Two varieties of fence are seen in ''Pikmin 4''; a rusty fence that acts as a static obstacle, and a shiny fence with white light circling the base of each bar which can be lowered by pressing a [[switch]], allowing Oatchi and carrying Pikmin to pass through. These shiny fences have similar behavior and apperance to [[switch gate|white gates]].
