Idea ideas[edit]
Sometimes I struggle to come up with ideas for polls. That's when it occurred to me: there are some topics and categories that spur all sorts of ideas. Maybe if I listed them all, it would help me and others get the creative gears spinning. So I present a list of ideas for poll ideas. I encourage others to contribute too.
- Questions about people enjoying or not enjoying their purchases
- (e.g. Did you think the DLC was priced right?)
- Questions about difficulty opinions
- (e.g. How difficult do you find game X? Do you think Pikmin Y is balanced?)
- What is your favorite out of a specific group
- (e.g. Out of a certain family, characters in a specific game, areas in DLC)
- Questions about completion status
- (e.g. Have you completed X game with no deaths? Have you 100%'d game Y?)
- Questions about ways to play
- (e.g. type of controls, what options are enabled)
- Questions about how often niche features are used

Recyclable polls[edit]
I'm not yet sure how to add this to the protocol, but I think that some polls can and should be re-submitted every once in a while. This is because the answers to these polls can change with time, and it'd be interesting for us to keep a record of how they change. Plus, some of these are so meaningful for Pikmin fans that it's nice to give a voting chance to users who didn't get to vote the first time. For the time being, I'll list such polls here, but feel free to argue or add your own.
- What games do you own?
- What has been your favorite April Fool's Day joke so far?
- What is your favorite game?
- What is your favorite Pikmin type?

Information below polls[edit]
Something I've wondered recently is whether some polls could have text or images below the poll to give context about that poll's options. This could make it easier to answer some polls, and could allow the poll section of the Main Page to have a similar navigational function to other sections by linking to specific articles on the wiki, showcasing some of the topics the wiki covers. An example where this could be useful is in the polls about favorite treasures in series. People might not know what all of the treasures are by their names, but a small table below the poll with images of each treasure and links to each treasure article could give people the context to vote in the poll. Links to read more information about each option could be useful for other polls. Not every poll would need to have this, and it wouldn't be possible to do this for some polls. A disadvantage of doing this is that the way that information is shown could influence the way that people vote in the poll; for example, if there had been images below the poll in the past poll about the exterior design of ships, then people could vote based on the appearance of the ship in the image chosen, which could bias the results in favor of the ships with better-quality images. Would doing this be a good idea? — Soprano(talk) 08:24, June 6, 2026 (UTC)
- Something I didn't consider when making this proposal is that the poll section of the Main Page can appear at many different widths, and this means that including an image in it with a fixed width wouldn't be a good idea. Including text below the poll could still be a good idea though. For example, the "What is your favorite cave in the Sun-Speckled Terrace?" poll could have text below it saying "Read more about the caves in the Sun-Speckled Terrace." with a link to the Caves section of the Sun-Speckled Terrace article, and the "What is your favorite Pikmin 4 area song?" poll could have text below it saying "Read more about Pikmin 4's soundtrack." with a link to the Music in Pikmin 4 article.
