Stuff to add[edit]

There's a lot we can talk about. I'll list what I wrote on Pikcord and expand on it:

  • Explain:
    • How Pikmin attack:
      • By standing up or latched on, and how in the former, they can rotate or latch on by themselves
      • How they can attack other leaders in competitive modes
      • How they decide to attack, by just being idle near a target, or being thrown at it, and how they can even enter combat with objects like eggs
    • How leaders can get damaged: simple damage, knockback, and crush, and the ramifications for recovering and getting hit by subsequent hits
      • Same with Pikmin, but also how they can catch on fire and so on
    • In Pikmin and Pikmin 2, Pikmin can lose their maturity, and in the case of P1, how they can leave behind sprouts for the next day if they die as a flower
    • More info about attacks:
      • Spicy Pikmin
      • How maturity affects it (or doesn't)
      • Petrified enemies
      • First latched-on hit (supposedly cause double damage in Pikmin 3)
    • How enemies attack:
      • How enemies that captured Pikmin will release them when they die before swallowing
      • Enemy in-fighting
      • How some enemy attacks have a limit of Pikmin they can capture/kill at once (WIP research here)
    • Tactics
      • It's usually a good idea to coax an enemy into shaking Pikmin off, and then rush at it while it's busy ending its shaking animation and preparing its next attack
      • How some enemies have weakspots, are vulnerable to certain actions like Dwarf Bulborbs getting crushed, etc.
      • Bomb rocks
    • Pikmin that get shaken off in a battle against the P3 Shaggy Long Legs can either stay on the ground forever (normal shake), or get up by themselves (joint de-hair shake). They also will not respond to being bumped, only to the whistle.

Do enemy attacks against the Leader count as attacks?[edit]

I think I should edit the Goolix’s page. - ~✿LongTailCat3✿~'s Discussion (❀🌸❀She/Her/Hers❀🌸❀), 01:19, June 15, 2021 (EDT)

Are there any attacks that exclusively target leaders? — {EspyoT} 16:21, June 16, 2021 (EDT)
The Goolix slides towards Olimar, and Olimar only slowly, and Olimar loses health. - ~✿LongTailCat3✿~'s Discussion (❀🌸❀She/Her/Hers❀🌸❀), 18:11, June 16, 2021 (EDT)
Hmm, I'm not sure how to document that. Are there other cases of the sort? — {EspyoT} 13:53, June 18, 2021 (EDT)
kageyamii, terribilis, and pseudooculli try to bite the leader. - ~✿LongTailCat3✿~'s Discussion (❀🌸❀She/Her/Hers❀🌸❀), 13:06, July 28, 2021 (EDT)
What kind of question is this? No matter the target, it's still an attack. It's as simple as that. ~ Contributions Cheepy (talk)

Attack Rate[edit]

The damage numbers are on each Pikmin's individual pages, but currently, I couldn't find any info on how quickly a Pikmin will attack an enemy, so that number doesn't give you much information. Without knowing the attacking speed, you can't really get any information on time to kill for each Pikmin attached to an enemy. Same goes for how quickly gates are torn down and the attacking rate while under the effects of Spicy Spray.

It'd be interesting technical information for nerds who like plugging that sort of thing into a calculator (like me). It could help get perspective on how much each Pikmin contributes to the time it takes to kill, or how much of an effect the Pikmin type choice has when you have bigger numbers.

Other speeds that should be mentioned are:

  • The Pikmin throwing rate
  • Punch rate/DPS (I believe in Pikmin 2 it's faster if you're moving while you punch, based on testing)
  • Spicy Spray's effect on the attack speed
