The Armored Mawdad[1] is a new boss appearing in Pikmin 3. Apparently, the Armored Mawdad can only be defeated by the new Rock Pikmin.
Appearance
It looks like an enormous centipede, with light blue armor scales protecting its soft underside. It also has large pincers at its front.
Attacks
Its main attack is trapping Pikmin with its pincers, then eating them. In addition to this, it can ram into the player and their Pikmin army, knocking them over and deflowering them.
Behavior
As mentioned above, it can charge into the player's army of Pikmin. In a defensive maneuver, it is able to climb up onto walls as a means of fleeing. It usually crawls about, trying to dodge the player's attacks.
Strategy to defeat
Only Rock Pikmin can defeat this creature. The Pikmin must be thrown at its armor to knock it off the Mawdad, then the player can use enemies to attack the boss.
