The Iridescent Flint Beetle is an enemy in the Pikmin games. They were to be attacked by throwing a Pikmin on or near it to make it drop useful objects, and different descriptions are provided for this creature.
Pikmin 1
In Pikmin 1, these bugs looked rather large than they do now. They were found more commonly, but not very helpful. Usually, they were found mostly in foliage, or some corner. When hit, they first dropped a 1 pellet, then when hit again, they drop two doses of nectar, again they dropped more doses of nectar, and then they will drop a 5 pellet. This repeated once, and then stopped after you got the second 5 pellet. This was hard to achieve however, making them infamous compared to the new ones.
Pikmin 2
In Pikmin 2, they were found the same, but only dropped three things, a 1 pellet, 2 doses of nectar, and then a dose of ultra-spicy spray. Since the discovery of Purple Pikmin, it is now easier to fight them due to the shockwaves that the Purple Pikmin produce. Sometimes in Challenge Mode , they dropped treasures.
