The '''Pikmin series''' currently consists of two games, [[Pikmin (game)|Pikmin]] and [[Pikmin 2]] (and their counterparts in the [[New Play Control!]] range on the [[Nintendo Wii]]), with a [[Pikmin 3|third]] in production. Both games have been scored well by critics, the sequel generally higher than Pikmin. There have been a number of rumours in the past concerning a Pikmin 3 being in production for the [[Wii U]] , and on July 15, 2008 at a private conference, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Pikmin 3 is in production. During E3 2012, Pikmin 3 was officially announced for the Wii U. The total number of sales for the series is approximately 3.70 million[http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=pikmin]. It has now been announced that Pikmin 3 is in production, and previews have been realesed.
