The Positron Generator is a ship part in Pikmin 1 that is found at the Impact Site. It basically is a rounded green object that has two golden antennae on the top. Olimar mentions he uses this to make "Instant Space Noodles"; considering this and the name, it is possible that this part is used to produce energy.
Collecting the Part
Withdraw 3 Yellow Pikmin and go to the box you pushed out of the way on Day 1. Go inside the box and get three Bomb-rocks. Go up the box and destroy the wall. To make the part get the the ship faster, knock down the white gate to the left of the shore. Withdraw 20 Blue Pikmin and go to the shore. Go into the water and go kill the Pearly Clamclamp to the left. Have your 20 Blue Pikmin take the part back to the ship.

Trivia
In real life positrons (also known as antielectons) are the antimatter or antiparticle counterpart of the electron.
When Olimar retrieves the Positron Generator, he says in his notes that if you approach it you can receive an electric shock. However, neither him nor the Pikmin can be damaged by it.
