The '''S.S. Beagle''' is a ship owned by the [[Rescue Corps]]. It plays a similar role to that of the [[Hocotate ship]] pod and [[SPERO]]s, in that [[treasure]]s and [[castaway]]s are taken to it before being brought to the [[Rescue Command Post]]. It can also store [[raw material]] and, if necessary, convert it to [[clay]]. Much like the Hocotate ship pod, the S.S. Beagle accompanies the [[rookie Rescue Officer]], [[Oatchi]] and their [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] squad in [[caves]], and even accepts enemy corpses as [[Sparklium]] sources.

After a certain point in the story, the S.S. Beagle and the [[Onion]] travel together and can be told to land at designated locations called [[base]]s. When the [[day]] is over, the rookie Rescue Officer, Oatchi and their Pikmin enter their respective ships and return to the Rescue Command Post in time before night falls.

This ship has a white color with accents that are the same color as the [[spacesuit]] that the player chooses for the Rescue Corps to wear. Like major ships, it has the ability to fly and warp through space. It also has some text in the [[interstellar alphabet]] on it, reading {{kt|H|T|C|U}} (HTCU or HTOU).

== Trivia ==
*The S.S. Beagle is one of two spaceships across the series, the other being the [[Hocotate Ship]], to not crash land on [[PNF-404]] when entering its orbit. It is currently unknown the reason as to why.
*The S.S. Beagle shares its name with the ship Charles Darwin took a voyage on: the H.M.S. Beagle.
**A beagle also happens to be a breed of dog, fitting in with the dog theme of the ''Pikmin 4'' character names.
