Better image[edit]

We definitely need a better image than Image:Pikminwhiteimageneeded.jpg. a) It should have a transparent background. b) It should be as least edited as possible; this one was clearly edited to add a question mark to the White Pikmin's hand. {EspyoT} 10:00, 3 March 2011 (EST)

What's wrong with it looking edited? IIRC, Prez added that specifically for it to fit better with the template. Anyway, I can't really think of anything that would make sense - any ideas? GP
I guess I was a bit aggressive... It's just that, at the Carmageddon Wiki, I cleverly used non-edited images from the games themselves. For instance, in the case of the more/better images template, I used an image of the second game's main vehicle, but with a lower-res polygon, as to reflect the potentially low quality of the pictures in the article. I guess I meant that if we can find an unedited image that is somehow related to pictures, or the lack thereof, we can replace it with that White Pikmin. Still, someone who knows how could delete the background from the White Pikmin image, for aesthetic reasons. {EspyoT} 17:28, 3 March 2011 (EST)
Oops, I missed this somehow. Yeah, sounds like a good idea, just need to find one. GP
Perhaps this image? Vol (Talk)
I actually thought about that one, but the thing is that while that's very lowres, it's probably the best quality image we can get about that critter. So using it for this template would sort of be ironic... Maybe that makes it work even better? {EspyoT} 19:30, 22 March 2011 (EDT)
What am I missing? What relation does that have to missing images? GP
Oh no, not missing. Low quality images. This template used to be used to indicate that a page has no pictures, but I changed it to make it note that a page has no pictures or has low quality pictures. If I'm not mistaken, a lot of wikis that use this template make it double as a missing/lowres image warning {EspyoT} 05:49, 23 March 2011 (EDT)
Not going to remove the white because we're going to get whole different picture entirely anyway soon. However, do we really even need one? I know I uploaded this, but I don't think it was for any smart reason, and I'm quite certain none of our templates have an image. I feel as if it would be better without, even though most seem to use images.--Prezintenden
True, the image isn't obligatory, and we don't have an image in most of the templates. We should either add images to all warning templates, or to none. If we can find some clever images like in Carmageddon Wikia, as I mentioned above, we should definitely add them to the templates. As of now, though, maybe we should remove it from this template, yes. We should perhaps create a talk page somewhere to discuss which images to use in each template. Until we don't have that set, I say the templates are left pictureless. {EspyoT} 08:46, 23 March 2011 (EDT)

Yeah, I agree. I have no idea why we felt we needed one on this template, especially when there was no obvious choice to put the meaning across. I'll remove it now, then. GP

Template split[edit]

I think this template should be split between image (0 images, needs any at all), more images (at least one image needing more), and image quality (for file pages to indicate low quality). It does not make sense to me to place a more images request on a file that simply needs to be updated, and some people may not be looking to completely add new images--focusing on old ones needing improvement. Agreed, though I'm still trying to think if it's better to use that suggestion, or to merge the "zero" and the "more" templates. — {EspyoT} 13:53, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
The way I see it, having two separate templates and therefore categories provides a higher priority for the pages that contain no images whatsoever, to help people with image-taking-capability take images there first if applicable. Regardless, the image needed and image quality components should be split. I could probably get all of the current 287 images changed to the 2 templates in about an hour/hour and a half, or 3 templates in just under two. Depends on how the community wants multiple vs one images to be addressed. Trig - 14:41, October 14, 2020 (EDT)
