:They don't, really.  The only similarity seems to be the yellow petals.  Sunflowers have a comparatively big middle bit, whatever you call it, and I've never seen a sunflower with more than one flower on it, or a non-straight stem.  I don't pretend to know anything about flowers, but they don't look that similar.{{User:Greenpickle/sig}}

::According to Wikipedia, sunflowers and chrysanthemums belong to the same family, but given the tremendous size and diversity of the family that's not really saying much. So they are somewhat related, but the similarity in appearance is likely a coincidence. {{user:Jimbo Jambo/sig}} 22:28, 7 November 2011 (EST)

They don't, really. The only similarity seems to be the yellow petals. Sunflowers have a comparatively big middle bit, whatever you call it, and I've never seen a sunflower with more than one flower on it, or a non-straight stem. I don't pretend to know anything about flowers, but they don't look that similar. GP
According to Wikipedia, sunflowers and chrysanthemums belong to the same family, but given the tremendous size and diversity of the family that's not really saying much. So they are somewhat related, but the similarity in appearance is likely a coincidence. —Jimbo Jambo 22:28, 7 November 2011 (EST)
