A Wogpole.

Wogpole

Amphicaris frodenum

The Wogpole is an enemy in the Pikmin games. It resembles a tadpole, and is in fact the baby form of amphitubers. It is one of the weakest water-based enemy in the game. In the first game, it only appears in the The Forest of Hope and The Distant Spring area. They are typically a hard-to-get, low-reward enemy in that they are fast swimmers that run away and only give out 1 Pikmin when carried to the Onion. In Pikmin 2, they are found in the Awakening Wood and Perplexing Pool areas, as well as being found in the sublevels of some caves. Also, they can occasionally get out of the water. When they do this, they will flop high in the air and move more slowly. As stated, they are not worth killing, so don't bother unless you really want to retrieve it.

Olimar's Notes

The Wollywog spawns in early spring, laying its eggs on low-hanging tree branches and shrubs growing in or near lakes and ponds. Suck unorthodox amphibious behavior is a defense mechanism, protecting the eggs from predation by blue pikmin and Water Dumples. The Wollywog's wild hopping nearly the shoreline in early spring is thought to be a method of driving predators away from Wogpole eggs.

Louie's Notes

Wogpoles can be eaten raw, but they're much more flavorable when steamed or grilled. Also heavenly in risotto! Feel free to experiment with this lush ingredient.

How to Kill

Chase it down and hope your Pikmin can catch it.

Captains

Chase it down and punch it. This brings a lot of wasted effort, though, so don't bother killing them.
