Purple Pikmin

Purple Pikmin is a fat member of the Pikmin Family introduced in Pikmin 2, along with White Pikmin and Bulbmin. They are the second species of Pikmin to appear in Pikmin 2. Unlike the Red Pikmin, whom are stored in the Red Onion, Purple Pikmin are stored in the ship, as they have no Onion.

Purple Pikmin are 10 times as heavy as a normal Pikmin and can carry 10 times as much as a normal Pikmin.

Obtaining Purple Pikmin

Similar to White Pikmin, Purple Pikmin can only be obtained by throwing other types of Pikmin into a Candypop Bud; in the Purple Pikmin's case, the player must throw non-purple Pikmin into a Violet Candypop Bud. Two Candypop Buds are found in the Emergence Cave, but they disappear after a certain amount of times used. Purples are vital for carrying heavy loads so collect plenty of them. A good strategy is to enter the Subterranean Complex with one Pikmin. On the eighth sublevel, throw the Pikmin into theQueen Candypop Buds, then throw them into the Violet Candypop Buds. If done correctly, you should have 15 Purple Pikmin. This is handy for obtaining the 100 Purple Pikmin required to collect the Doomsday Apparatus in the Wistful Wild .
